President Bush's campaign office in Spokane burglarized, vandalized
By David Postman
Seattle Times chief political reporter
President Bush's campaign office in Spokane was broken into and vandalized last night, the latest in a string of crimes at Bush offices across the country.
Workers arriving this morning found a hole smashed through the wall from an adjacent, vacant office. Bush campaign officials say a small amount of petty cash is missing and a computer and television had been moved and left near the hole.
"They must have gotten spooked because they ultimately left the computer and TV," said Bill Hyslop, the campaign's chairman for the Fifth Congressional District.
Spokane police responded this morning and took the computer's monitor and the TV, Hyslop said.
"We obviously have no idea who did this and are not going to cast aspersions," said Hyslop, who served as U.S. attorney in Spokane under President George H.W. Bush.
Last week computers were stolen in a burglary at the campaign's Bellevue headquarters. Bush campaign officials believe the break ins are part of a broader attack on the president's re-election offices around the country, including a burglary in Canton, Ohio, last night, gun shots fired in West Virginia, Florida and Tennessee and union protestors storming offices in three Florida cities and Minneapolis.
There are no suspects in the burglaries or shootings and no injuries were reported.
Because the protests at campaign offices that were stormed were part of organized union demonstrations, Bush campaign chairman Marc Racicot wrote a letter today to AFL-CIO President John Sweeney asking him to call off any future protests.
"In addition to the injuries, property damage and disruption associated with these acts, these events have created a threatening and intimidating atmosphere abhorrent to our democratic process," Racicot wrote.
The Spokane headquarters for the Bush campaign is a part of a joint operation with the Republican Party. It sits at the corner of two busy streets.
Hyslop said that a security guard checked the building at about 6 a.m. today and did not report any disturbance.
But when construction crews working on the adjacent office arrived within 30 minutes later, they noticed the back door of the adjacent office had been pried open from an alleyway.
They also discovered that a hole appeared to have been kicked through the drywall separating the vacant space from the Bush offices. The computer and TV were found near the hole.

It's an epidemic, isn't it.....
In reading the brief description, it sounded like David Postman did it.
When is the Kerry campaign going to condemn all of these brown shirt tactics?
Which basically means that it was nearing the end of his shift, it was around dawn, and he wasn't as "aware" as he could have been. It happens.
Of course, a security guard also isn't necessarily going to notice a hole in the wall inside when all they probably did was try the door knob to see if it was still locked.
And I ask again...when is John Kerry going to denounce these crimes nationwide?
clearly republican operatives doing so to smear the dems. oh wait, this isn't du?
They won't - it's just a nuisance thing.
Okay..let's get this straight. We have the democrats saying that the Republicans are trying to intimidate voters in Florida and elsewhere, yet they cannot come up with ANY evidence to support a claim. Meanwhile, look at what has happened in Washington, Ohio and elsewhere...burglaries, storming of offices, burning swastikas on the ground of those with Bush-Cheney signs. Talk about intimidation (of course, it will not work, but the dems should be hammered on this everytime Shirley Jackson Lee, Jesse Jackson, et al open their mouths!
I want to know when Brokaw/Rather/Jennings will do an in-depth piece on this rash of violence against Republicans.
Oh, never mind.
Sounds like someone took a nap at around 5am.....
how cheap and immature...a sure sign that they know they are going to lose
How many does this make so far? Anybody keeping count?
Immoral. All I can say.
At what point would RICO be triggered?
They have to be on file, first.
Here's a hint for ya .. They support John Kerry
(Sturmabteilung, Storm Troopers), also known as "Brown Shirts," the Nazi Party militia that helped Adolf Hitler rise to power in Germany. Created in 1922, the SA's supposed purpose was to guard Nazi Party meetings, but in actuality, Hitler meant for the group to serve as the Nazi army. The SA was extremely antisemitic and antidemocratic in its military activities.
Its members were mainly lower-middle class Germans who had lost their jobs due to the country's economic problems. The SA gave them something to be part of and proud of. They engaged in street fights with their political enemies, practiced pseudo-military exercises, and terrorized Germany.
Just another "anomaly"... nothing to see here...
This is getting ridiculous! One of my neighbors just told me that his bumper stickers were all removed last night off his car. Even worse he had a Marine Corp & US Flag on his car, the kind that attach from you windows, both were broken off & thrown on the ground. This is how the angry left treats personal property & our Vets?!!!
Why don't they do what every other vandalized Bush/Cheney headquarters does. Issue a statement in the strongest possible language. There is virtue in impotence.
Why aren't "volunteers" sleeping in the headquarters and blowing off their heads when they climb through the broken windows?
One dead "helper" from the Kerry campaign and this crap would stop.
Here are some. I am sure I missed some others.

The Kerry campaign's version of Kristallnacht. Republicans are going to have to look out for themselves. The 'Rats won't stop it. The MSM won't report it. Local and state law enforcement won't help. We're on our own.
They had better take this seriously. The violence and intimidation is way out of hand.
Like the little girl having her sign rip from her hands and torn to pieces? Remember those pictures?
And now coordinated attacks including a break-in at our Seattle office where laptop computers were stolen from the Washington State Bush-Cheney 04 executive director and the state Republican Party 72-hour director.
Just last night in Canton , Ohio, a Bush-Cheney '04 staffer was forced to lock herself in an office while another break-in was in progress. The facility was seriously damaged and property was stolen.
Additionally, gun shots have been fired into Bush-Cheney '04 offices in West Virginia, Florida and Tennessee, windows broken in West Virginia and campaign staffers threatened.
In Wisconsin, a supporter of the President had a swastika burned into his front yard simply because he had a Bush-Cheney '04 lawn sign.
In Orlando , Florida, injuries and damage were sustained when protestors forced their way into the facility, fracturing the arm of one staffer, and vandalized the office.
In Michigan, protestors entered a headquarters and engaged in activities apparently intended to disrupt volunteers trying to make phone calls.
Residents in Portland, Oregon woke up Sunday morning to find cars spray-painted with hateful anti-Bush messages. This after homes with Bush-Cheney '04 lawn signs had swastikas painted on garage doors and other personal property.
Compile a list and send it out to your local media!
Wow, BOTH his biggest offices in the state! Amazing!
If I were Chris Vance, I'd pound this with every fiber of my being. It is NOT a coincidence that the biggest Bush/Cheney offices on BOTH sides of the mountains are burglarized. I'm not even aware of any other Bush/Cheney offices.
This is obviously a partisan attack. I hope they pay the price for it.
Liberals and Wahabists have so much in common.
I'll say it again:
I have updated my FMCDH (From My Cold Dead Hands) sign-off with the addition of (BITS).....Blood In The Streets, which I foresee coming soon, due to the enormous increase of the Marxist progressive movement being shoved down the throat of this failing REPUBLIC through the Judicial tyranny of fiat law, the passing of unconstitutional laws by the Legislative and Executive branches of our government and the enormous tax burden placed upon the average American to support unconstitutional programs put forth by Marxist ideology.
Spokane police responded this morning and took the computer's monitor and the TV, Hyslop said.
Am I the only one who found this juxtaposition a little strange? "The burglars didn't take it, so we will!" :-)
They really ought not be doing this...
It appears we have a new terrorist threat in America.
Time to hold the FBI accountable.
Today I got a nasty e-mail about Bush from someone called Joe the Rocker. E-mail address:firstname.lastname@example.org.
I have no idea how he got my e-mail address, but in his e-mail he blasts me - in very crude language-- for being a supporter of Bush. He calls Bush an "x drunkin cowboy" and "scum." He claims to have a brother in Iraq who supported Bush but now does not.
It is a mystery to me how he got my e-mail address and that he knew I was a Bush supporter. Has anyone else received mail from this guy ?
Not all people doing breakins have been proven to be union workers.
But all breakins were done by Democrats.
The Rats will vandalize one of their own offices, blame the Republicans, and the MSM will be all over it.
