The article talks about "Major" Bud Day. In actuality, he retired as a full bird Colonel. He was a major when first shotdown. He served in the South Pacific as an enlisted Marine in WW-II. In 1950 he got an (Air) National Guard commission, fought in Korea, and stayed in after that.
