Anyway this comes out, we will probably never know. As I am convinced this will be settled out of court under court seal.

Nope. O'Reilly will never settle for that. If he's innocent, he will demand that this twit and her mob attorney pay his favorite charity. And it will be very public.

If he's guilty, he will resign in shame, very publicly.

He will not settle something that ruins his reputation. Count on it.

I believe that was before the carribean fantasy. She alleges he invited her back to Fox, not that she requested to come back. She may be pure evil, I dunno. I suspect she's got something on him. That's not a logical "suspicion" just a gut feeling. He's mighty subdued tonight.

I do feel for his wife and family. I also hope if he's innocent he pounds her into the ground.

"worst case for Fox is to pay her off to go away."

Which is what I think part of her lil money grubbin mind had preplanned all along. The other stories of her allegedly being sexually harrased at CNN and/or CNN using her as a tool to jack FOX around, either way she appears to have preplanned for "her" BIG PAY DAY. I haven't met her and already am under the impression she doesn't like working period. I think she brought up Caribbean nights, fantasizing about spending part of that whopper $60 million dollar win-fall (LOTTO LIBERAL STYLE) LOUNGING ON A WHITE SANDY BEACH with a cool drink in hand. LOL, This is so hilarious.

Only indirectly. Bush's re-election doesn't hinge on the credibility of Fox News or O'Reilly, and this story doesn't really go to the heart of that, either.

This election may be close. In 2000, about 300 people in FL switching sides and we would have Gore. 300 is NOT many and I bet this will have more than 300 deciding for Kerry over Bush. Read the complaint and see they are already setting the link:

11. At all times mentioned herein, Defendant Bill O'Reilly was and is the host and "star" of "The O'Reilly Factor". The "O'Reilly Factor" is broadcast on cable television ....(no viewable)... Westwood One and Bill O'Reilly utilize this forum to preach the principles of the so-called "compasionate conservatism" espoused by George W. Bush and the Republican Party. The Defendants also use this forum to preach their belief in family values and to emoan the moral decline of politicians and others in positions of power.

My bias has nothing to do with it. I do not fall for this tin foil hat plot at every turn. There may be much more to this story than we all know. I deal with what I see as of now. And at this point in time...Fox should do what it must to save Fox. O'Really can come back later when found innocent. When the anchor is sinking the boat...cut the anchor. You can retrieve it later.

What, possibly, did this woman have to gain from suing O'Reilly if she doesn't have tapes??? Not one thing.

What she had to gain: Possibly money, possibly she had a grudge based on personal reasons, possibly she has a political agenda, or maybe she is telling the truth...take your pick.

She's not stupid.

How do you know this?

If she doesn't have proof, she's an idiot for suing him because her career is over.

Perhaps she really is an idiot, perhaps she wanted money and only filed because O'Reilly filed first, perhaps she is what cBS would call an "unimpeachable source" (e.g. a complete nut job like Bill Burkett).

O'Reilly's in deep trouble on this one, boys.

Maybe. But I'm dubious.

Understood. You seem anxious to defend Bill and accuse the woman. That was my point, and I'll agree I wasn't clear about it. Sorry about that.

If found guilty...

The case is a non-starter, even if all the allegations are true. The courtroom is just being used to evoke publicity. BTW, it is a civil case, so what would be concluded, if anything, is liability, not guilt.

FoxNews will use whatever devices it has at its disposal, including "values" clauses, to rearrange its talent. But, rearrangement of talent is done to maximize ratings.

Gee, careful there Dan Rather... errr I mean fella. You sound like the womans legal DNC defense team.

I am planning ahead in case it is not false. This is going to cause a sh## storm the media will lap up. We don't have time for this crap. We must win this election at all costs. If O'Really has to go away for a short vacation so be it.

There are parts later in the court papers that are in quotations & read like a transcript compared to the earlier pages that seem to be her recounting the incidents. Read the papers & decide for yourself.

Fair enough (you're being dubious), but I'm going to worry about you if I hear you've been sitting in fields waiting for the Great Pumpkin on Halloween.

"I think what bothers me most about the situation is that while all this was going on, she not only stayed, but also continued to go to dinner with him and allow herself to be put in all manner of potentially troublesome situations. Over and over and over and over"

Precisely, it's called extended (recorded) BAITING. So far her track record proves her to be a black widow. Don't get to close or she'll suck the air out of your lungs.

You are probably right.

The more disturbing thing is the amount of time wasted by many freepers on whether O is liberal or not. Who cares.

Many freepers have turned into lockstep lemmings whining about who is conservative enough or not. My contention is that neither Kerry or Bush can be remotely defined as a conservative. Either one is or will be tearing up what fabric of the constitution remains. If no one could hold Bill Clinton to any semblance of competance, what chance is there that any of the current pikers be reigned in.

I for one haven't seen the first patriot running for high office that wasn't self indulgent and ultimately looking out for himself. We hold much too high regard for those we support and too little regard for the damage that both sides are able to do.

Hope is ascribed to Bush and disappointment will follow.

Lesser of two evils? Maybe.

I lurk mostly for those offerrings of lucid thought and understanding. Not for the constant mindless chatter.

Let hope for better, and more productive posts and replies in the future. sinkspur is one of the better posters and I am not sure why he feels it necessary falls for this prattle.

Sorry to tag this on your post sinkspur but after reading the first page of posts I alway progress to the last at the time to see if the conversation has evolved enough to be interesting. It has not.

I've read the complaint, and I saw that excerpt. Did the Martha Stewart conviction change 300 Democrat votes in Bush's favor? I doubt it. Hell, if anything it convinced 300 Rat voters to make sure that they turned out to vote.

We don't even have a court ruling here. Just a bunch of BS complaints that haven't even been responded to, and won't be before the election.

It's going to be an interesting story to follow for the next few months, but I think the impact on the election is zero.
