TEMPE, Arizona (CNN) -- Sen. John Kerry appeared to gain more momentum heading toward November 2, easily beating President Bush in the third and final debate, a poll taken late Wednesday night suggests.
A CNN/USA Today/Gallup snap poll taken immediately after the presidential debate found that respondents gave a significant edge to Kerry over Bush, 52 percent to 39 percent.
The poll had a margin of error of plus or minus 5 percentage points.
The numbers were similar to the results of a poll taken the night of the first debate September 30 in Miami, Florida. That night Kerry was favored by a 53 percent to 37 percent margin.
Kerry and Bush were almost even in the second debate on October 5, with the numbers falling with the margin of error.
The respondents Wednesday were 511 registered voters who watched the debate. Their political affiliations broke down as 36 percent Republican, 36 percent Democratic and 28 percent independent

Were these freaks watching the same debate as I (and those polled by ABC) watched?
Yea, right.
Bush barely lost the first, tied the second, and won the third. No poll will change what I saw.
Thos folks need to be poled.
buh-bye
Lies, deceit, gaffes, make you a winner in liberal town..
First his lame story that proved that the gun ban did not work because last hunting season when he was supposedly out there with the sherrif huntin (see: That dog don't hunt) the sherrif told him an AK-47 was in the house... The ban was in effect at that time so what was the purpose of the story? dumb? and then the remark about Dick Cheneys daughter being a lesbian. The question was meant to solicit a deep thought and understanding of the issue not for some sound bite response. It was meant to get an understanding of the candidates soul and Kerry's shallowness showed right through in his answer. It proved to many that he is an empty suit ultra elite liberal who has nothing but complaints about the government and for which he has no inclination to even attempt to fix. He wants to be President because he believes he deserves to be. I think smart America realizes now that all talk and no action gets you 9/11.
?
????
Some guy just posted at Polipundit.com that Frank Luntz had a 23 person focus group of presumably undecided voters, a majority of whom Kerry won -- but when it came time to say how they were leaning, it was Bush hands down: 17-5, with one leaning to the Libertarian candidate. Did anyone else see, read, or hear about this, and was it really a focus group of undecided voters or swing voters?
Screw CNN and the rest of 'em.
No freaking way is this legit.
We've already discussed the key indicators showing that Bush won tonight. CNN is too obvious with their fakery. If I were Kerry, I'd be very concerned about how often I was on the defensive and the inhumane treatment of a particular person's sexual interest in front of millions. Leave the kids out of the political war. If Republicans had done this, we would hear about it for weeks. Even the mainstream press at the event made an audible groan when Kerry made his foolish comments.
So basically, no matter how well Kerry or Bush do in the debate, they get the same numbers.
This should be an indicator that the poll is flawed, but somehow I get the feeling the Establishment Media will have a different take.
Bush (though slightly over-caffeinated) completely humiliated Kerry in command of the details, which is supposedly the latter's strength. JFK's first answer on Social Security was particularly insulting, and Schieffer was right to press it further--at which point he returned with the utterly lame comment that, "Oh, I was on Meet the Press in, oh, in the 90s, and they said the same thing, but you know what, we fixed it, we growed da surplus"
But anyway, back to the irrelevant Pacific time zone snap polls...
The problem is Kerry can lie about 25 different things in his answer and there is no way for Bush to respond to every thing and the media wont point out the lies after the debate. Unless you know the facts, which most people don't, especially the so called undecided (which would more accurately be titled uninformed), there is no way you will ever find out what a liar he is, and hence, actually lost the debate.
I can only hope that the internet news becomes more powerful and fair than the mainstream of today to avoid such a pitifully biased and unfair election this is becoming.
