People who have used cell phones for at least 10 years might have an increased risk of developing a rare brain tumor, according to a study published Wednesday in the international journal Epidemiology.

A team of researchers at Institute of Environmental Medicine at the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm, Sweden, found almost a fourfold increase of the tumors, known as acoustic neuromas, on the side of the head where the phone was most often held.

The work was done as part of the World Health Organization's cell phone research agenda, and experts in the field said it must be taken seriously and is likely to rekindle consumer worries about the risks of using the phones

I know for a fact cell phones cause people to not use their turn signals.

They also cause them to drive 40 mph in the passing lane for miles and miles.

In even rarer cases, it has been observed that the tumors further develop into fully functional cell phones.

IMHO a report that attorneys will use as a vehicle to sue and make lots of money for themselves. This is what President Bush is referring to when he says that litigation is out of control.

Nothing done by the UN should be considered without independent research. Perhaps start here on the topic of EMF radiation and cancer ...

I believe it. Remember the study in the 80's that young women who wore pagers on their hips had a higher rate of STDs.

W.H.O. said it MUST be taken seriously, and that's enough proof for me. /sarcasm off.

They also cause the user to misjudge turns and almost slam into oncoming traffic.

On the way to the office this AM, I was behind a young foreign girl chatting away on her cell, driving 25mph in a 45! It was so annoying! She would speed up to 30 then slam on breaks! There was no passing, and I was ready to call 911, as cell phone use is now banned while driving in NJ! When I did get to the area where it became 4 lanes, I was passing and she drifted over in my lane.

So IMO cell phones are hazardous to the other drivers.

Now the fun starts, watching the denials from hired "experts" and users who think they can't live without these damn things.
