John Kerry AWB gaffe

Posted on 10/14/2004 7:08:34 AM PDT by tomnbeverly

John Kerry is definately a spinning crystal and if you are not careful you can get caught up in that hypnosis... but all words and little action is the reverse of good Leadership. Refer back to all three debates study them, study Kerry's record ... shocking ... There was blatant hypnosis in the debate last night about the Assault Weapons Ban (AWB) story... It went something like this. "I was hunting in Iowa last year with a sheriff from one of the counties there, and he pointed to a house in back of us, and said, "See the house over there? We just did a drug bust a week earlier, and the guy we arrested had an AK-47 lying on the bed right beside him." Kerry was defending the bill. The story only works to defend the bill if it happend after the bill expired in September. Well as you see this is precisely a case that the AWB did not work but he uses the story to say that the bill should have been re-instituted. The AWB was signed in 1994 and expired in 2004. I am sure even Bill Clinton had so so days... The bottom line is the lessons of 911 are clear all talk and no action is how we got 911 in the first place.

Can't someone research hunting licenses issued in Iowa? The "man" is lying. He doesn't know how to tell the truth. This could be one of those "Al Gore" stories.

Tsk, tsk. Don't you know you are supposed to judge liberals by their intentions, not by results?

Yes, but the criminal's gun was illegal, thereby rendering it harmless.

Its not his first argument against himself by a long shot... The mind of John Kerry is a terrible thing... Smart America has realized the lessons of 911 and GWB will be re-elected.

He doesn't know how to tell the truth

sKerry would rather climb a tree and lie, than stand on the ground & tell the truth.

I caught that when he said it, I thought well since it was against the law to have that weapon he must have been a criminal? DUH!

Proves that no matter what the laws pertaining to guns are, the criminal law breakers will always have guns.

I accept that as long as those criminals understand that if they come into my house of after me, I also have guns with which to protect myself.

And it doesn't hurt that the politicians know that as well.

Being a talented Debate Officionado with decades of
experience, Kerry reveals his bi-polar brain! And
worse than that, he BELIEVES both sides of any issue
he puts forth...for the moment!

May America wake up and see this Candidate for who he really is, a Monday Morning Quarterback who can't throw or catch a football, and has never led a single person (well maybe his butler).

This is too complicated for Democrats to understand. It's like using the terrorists as examples -- if a terrorist wants an assault weapon, he will get one whether legal or not! The fact that the alleged drug dealer in Iowa had an illegal assault weapon merely proves that declaring a weapon illegal doesn't make them unavailable for criminals. Democrats are so stupid.

Wow, with the assault weapons ban now gone, I can get an AK47, right? (... if you believe Kerry the Klown.)

Good point.
I was thinking the same thing as the President was about to answer. I probably would have said something along the same line. But maybe the President decided not to point out the ridiculousness of the ban because it would then appear that he was against it. However, that would have been an excellent time for him to reemphasize the necessity of enforcing the laws already in place.

This thread has just added to the FreeRepublic "bang list" (firearms interest list) by adding the keyword "banglist".

Any time a firearms-related thread is created on FreeRepublic, please be sure to add the "banglist" keyword to it so that interested FReepers don't miss it.

Was the alleged gun a real full-auto AK-47 or an AK-47 want-to-be? If it was full-auto, it wasn't covered by the assault weapons ban but instead by 1934 Firearms Act.

As long as they aren't capable of full automatic operation (unless you have a permit), you may have as many AK-47's as you want.

What a country! I love it.

As far as I can recollect an AK-47 is a select fire weapon and severely controlled ...it may have been an illegal bring back...or a legal bring back stolen...or illegally converted (in which case it still would not be an AK-47)

Or

Kerry is lying....

IMO

And didn't Kerry say that the AK-47 was his favorite personal firearm?

John Kerry reminds me of people like O'Reilly. They don't know who their real audience is. O'Reilly had me as a regular listener until he started pandering to those who hate him and us. O'Reilly started playing both sides of the field. Kerry is stupidly running down GREAT American institutions like Halliburton and other companies that make America work. He stupidly has his sister trying to oust our ally Australia. Kerry insults Britain, Poland, Italy, Australia and then declares that he will run a better war. How? How in Sam Hill does he expect to do that? The enemy he panders to has declared they will not send troops to Iraq. Kerry, as President, would oversee the dismantling of all the positive changes in Iraq. God help us keep Kerry from becoming President.
