If Osama Bin Laden ever buys a rap album, he'll probably start with a CD by KRS-One.
The hip-hop anarchist has declared his solidarity with Al Qaeda by asserting that he and other African-Americans "cheered when 9/11 happened."
The rapper, whose real name is Kris Parker, defiled the memory of those who died in the terrorist attacks as he spouted off at a recent New Yorker Festival panel discussion.
"I say that proudly," the Boogie Down Productions founder went on, insisting that, before the attack, security guards kept black people out of the Trade Center "because of the way we talk and dress.
"So when the planes hit the building, we were like, 'Mmmm - justice.'"
The atrocity of 9/11 "doesn't affect us [the hip-hop community]," he said. "9/11 happened to them, not us," he added, explaining that by "them" he meant "the rich ... those who are oppressing us. RCA or BMG, Universal, the radio stations."
Parker's screed drew a loud boo from novelist Tom Kelly, who was in the audience. "I lost six friends there on 9/11," Kelly told us afterward.
Parker also sneered at efforts by other rappers to get young people to vote.
"Voting in a corrupt society adds more corruption," he added. "America has to commit suicide if the world is to be a better place."
Ex-Nirvana rocker Krist Novoselic, who was on the panel, yelled back: "That is wrong, man. Suicide is not the answer."
But, judging by Parker's downward-spiraling career, he's already bent on self-destruction.
Lead the way or shut your gaping maw.
Dem activist/ex-Nirvana bassist Novoselic apparently didn't see fit to object to KRS-One's comments about 9/11. Apparently Novoselic only got upset when KRS-One trivialized the death by suicide of Novoselic's meal ticket, Kurt Cobain. Typical.
Exactly. Dude! Suicide is bogus, man, but saying we deserved 9/11 is okay. Yeah, like, no problem, man.
A couple of years back, this guy was criticizing Chuck D of Public Enemy for his anti-white racism and saying things like "black people have themselves to blame for drugs and crime" etc.
Now it seems he's gone 180 degrees.
I guess when it's been almost ten years since you've had a hit record you get desperate.
sounds like a real class act...did they provide protection to this guy? becuase I would think he'd have a tough time walking down the streets of NY.
I'd never heard of this anal orifice, but then I'm not into his particular genre of noisemaking.
My wife worked one block from the WTC from 1997-1999. We met in the WTC concourse after work almost every day.
That concourse was full, daily, with people of every description.
No security ever ejected anyone from the WTC unless they gave the guard a hard time.
Several thousand black people worked at the WTC.
This guy likes to call himself "Knowledge Reigns Supreme."
Nope...no hate speech here. Move on, citizen!
If these hip-hop punks think they're too good for American, I suggest they move their butts over to the Middle East so they can spoon with the al-Qaeda assclowns and see how utopian it is over there.
Hell...these are probably the same jackwits who think they're entitled to reparations.
I tend to agree with any who suggest this guy is just trying to bolster a sagging career. He may have to go out and find a job, and the Mickie D's near him isn't hiring, alas.
People, lets not get caught up in this claptrap from the uneducated racist trolls. Don't give them the satisfaction of acknowledgment.
Like all the rap producers? It's the most profitable music genre in the country, by far. We're talking some serious wealth here.
He must have been thinking about Michael Jackson, who also claimed to be abused by racist record producers, e.g., Tommy Mottola. Whatever.
He's a liar. Black people did NOT cheer 9/11. Socialists may have, but not the vast majority of black people. He is casting aspersions.
He's a know-nothing never-was trying to stir up controversy because there is nothing left for him.
I'm sure you're right. The only people I heard of cheering 9/11 were Moslems of Middle Eastern origin, e.g., a local doctor who reportedly got socked in the nose by a fellow surgeon for celebrating the attacks.
Too bad, I like's KRS-ONE's jams from back in the day.
Too bad Scott LaRock croaked instead of Kris!
Double-barrelled Mega-PING! to both lists! If you want on, FReepmail me!
Teenage suicide . . . don't do it!
Now it seems he's gone 180 degrees.
You knocked that one out of the park!
He did indeed used to say that black people needed to accept responsibility for their actions. This is completely out of phase from that.
It's a publicity stunt, pure and simple. He hasn't had a hit in over ten years. Few, if any young kids who listen to Hip-Hop know who he is!
