As Jay-Z transitioned from hit song to hit song at a Carnegie Hall concert Monday night, so did the lighting, changing from red to white to blue. The veteran rapper then performed his latest hit, "Glory," about his 1-month-old daughter with Beyoncé, Blue Ivy Carter. "I didn't think I was going to make it through that one," he said, sounding emotional. "That was tough." It was one of the many jams Jay-Z performed at New York's famed venue, his latest achievement in music domination. The rapper is the second hip-hop act to perform at Carnegie Hall. Wyclef Jean did so...

Breastfeeding mothers staged a "nurse-in" Wednesday at Target stores nationwide to show solidarity with a Texas woman who said she was ridiculed for breastfeeding her baby at a Houston store. Michelle Hickman organized a Facebook campaign to call for the "nurse-in," which took place in several US cities including Houston, Knoxville, Tenn., and Decatur, Ill. About 50 nursing mothers showed up to protest at the Webster, Texas, Target store where Hickman said she was harassed last month, MyFOXhouston reported.

This feud is heating up. Here is Trump on today's Sean Hannity Radio program. This is after Rove said about Trump (this morning on Fox) "what the heck are Republican candidates doing showing up to a debate with a guy who says 'I may run for president again as an Independent?' Rove has hit Trump on this in just about every interview today, including tonight again on Greta.

How Freaking Gross— The Occupy Santa Cruz squatters are not only suffering from a ringworm and scabies problem… Hazmat officials were called in to remove 200 pounds of feces from a lot near the #Occupy Santa Cruz squatter camp. On November 15 the Occupy Santa Cruz website announced that the members had provided its own portable toilet and handwashing station and soon would be placing more toilets in the park itself (photo by Alex Darocy) There’s a whole lot of squatting going on at Camp Poopstock Santa Cruz. Verum Serum posted on this disturbing report from the Mercury Times: This...

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The state is investigating reports that at least one staff member on Tennessee's Capitol Hill has been urinated on from above a Legislative Plaza courtyard just a few yards from where dozens of Occupy Nashville members are continuing their protest. A memo has gone out from the director of the Legislative Administration warning staffers to be "aware of their surroundings when in the courtyard area."

A second woman who claims she was sexually harassed by Herman Cain identified herself last night, as the Republican presidential hopeful said he would undergo a lie detector test to prove his innocence. Karen Kraushaar, a US Treasury spokesman, was revealed as one of two women to have received five–figure payouts from the National Restaurant Association after complaining about Mr Cain in the 1990s. Mrs Kraushaar, 55, of Maryland, last night described Mr Cain as "a monster".

Last night I was channel surfing and happened across about the last minute of a show called "Mike and Molly" It was, as far as I can tell, the final closing credits. It showed somebody holding an Ipod or some kind of hand-held and they were flicking through a bunch of pictures. Presumably, the stars. even though the two people in the pictures were clothed, it was totally obvious from the first picture *there were about 8 of them) that the two people were in sexual positions. I was just wondering if other FReepers had caught this and what they...

As a long time fan of Sarah Michelle Gellar, I ask that you please consider checking out Sarah in her first return to TV since Buffy the Vampire Slayer. "Ringer" will air on the CW next Tuesday at 9PM. Sarah has started to receive positive reviews for her show. And I hope her show does well in the ratings. Since Sarah & her husband Freddie Prinze Jr. stay very private, they seem to be more on the right on at least some issues.

DALLAS (AP) -- Former President George W. Bush decided not to join President Barack Obama at a Thursday ceremony at ground zero because he feels that acting presidents alone should preside over such official ceremonies, the former first lady said. Laura Bush told The Associated Press on Thursday that she and her husband were out to dinner Sunday night when they received word that Obama wanted to speak with him.

In light of Elizabeth Taylor’s passing on, I have noticed the world’s secular media (1 John 2:15-17) praising Miss Taylor as a cultural “do as thou wilt” trend setter, one who showed NO scruples when it came to sound Judeo/ Christian values and morality; especially to the God ordained institute of marriage (Matt. 19:4-6, 1 Cor. 9:6, Heb. 13:4). Such secular and godless traits of these individuals are greatly applauded and encouraged by the world to its inhabitants (Rom. 1:32, 1 John 2:15-17). To the secular world (1 John 2:15-17), Miss. Taylor’s philanthropy and endless work in AIDS research and...

“It’s good to allow them to work out their own problems rather than a one-size-fits-all federal government, dumb-ass program. It really is an awful piece of crap.” – Senator Orrin Hatch (R-Utah) on POTUS Obama’s health care law.

Hatch: Health law a 'dumb-ass' programBy Jordan Fabian - 02/28/11 01:43 PM ET GOP Sen. Orrin Hatch (Utah) reportedly directed a few profane insults toward President Obama's healthcare law in a speech late last week. During at an appearance at an event sponsored by the Utah State University College Republicans, Hatch was asked whether he thought the nation's healthcare system needs serious reforms. He acknowledged that states have different problems when it comes to healthcare, but called the federal law Democrats passed last year a "dumb-ass program" that will not solve them. "Every state has different demographics, every state has...

Cover story: Where's the diversity at the Oscars?By Lisa Respers France, CNN January 26, 2011 1:54 p.m. EST (CNN) -- After the Academy Awards ceremony in 2010, there was a great deal of hope that the glass ceiling had finally been shattered in Hollywood. "The Kathryn Bigelow" effect was coined by some industry observers who believed that her win for "The Hurt Locker," the first Oscar for a woman director, would open doors of opportunity for females behind the camera. The riveting film "Precious" yielded a best supporting actress win for African-American performer Mo'Nique, and the first ever statuette for...

Projects to weatherize homes are a key part of the Obama administration's fusion of stimulus spending and the green agenda. But a new report by the Department of Energy has found serious problems in stimulus-funded weatherization work -- ***problems so severe that they have resulted in homes that are not only not more energy efficient but are actually dangerous for people to live in. The study, by the Department's inspector general, examined the work of what's called the Weatherization Assistance Program, or WAP, in Illinois. Last year, the Department awarded Illinois $242 million, which was expected to pay for the...

Okay, first off I admit that I feel like a complete jerk for posting this thread...but I had to. What happened is that a little after 7 P.M. tonight something happened during an ATM transaction involving $40 of my deposit being jammed into the ATM deposit slot mechanism. That very briefly is what happened but it was the circumstances surrounding and involving the transaction (and the charge it was meant to cover) that was so bizarre. To make a very long story short, I soon afterwards had a message flash in my head (which I admit could have been the...

Elvis Presley impersonators and a colorful inflatable bounce house are making for a festive auction of items connected to former Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich. What Should America Do Now? What is the most important question facing Americans today? Is it taxes, unemployment, health care, terrorism, inflation, climate change, or economic growth? I believe that ultimately it is economic growth as the founders intended it, unencumbered by government interference. Conservative Americans sees the future role of government allowing America to compete in the global economy. America’s socialist element sees the future role of government impeding other nations and not encouraging growth in America. The Conservative recognizes that the Constitution does not empower the government to interfere. Asking all Americans to face the reality of the...

A morally, historically, socially, and politically childish amalgam of Pocahontas and Ferngully: The Last Rainforest, Avatar finds James Cameron--still the Cameron of Titanic (or the uncomfortably simpering T2, if we're honest with ourselves) rather than the Cameron of Aliens and The Terminator--trying his hand at being Kevin Costner: powerful, dim, and only relevant for a tiny window of time he doesn't realize has already closed. The more simple-minded liberal proselytizing he perpetrates like Avatar, the farther away he gets from the B-movie muscularity that indicated his early career. It's a bad thing, believe me, that the first set of movies...

Oct 30, 2009 — “Plant fossils give first real picture of earliest Neotropical rainforests,” announced a press release from University of Florida. The fossils from Colombia show that “many of the dominant plant families existing in today’s Neotropical rainforests – including legumes, palms, avocado and banana – have maintained their ecological dominance despite major changes in South America’s climate and geological structure.” The team found 2,000 megafossil specimens from the Paleocene, said to be 58 million years old. This is only 5 to 8 million years after the extinction of the dinosaurs according to conventional dating. “The new study provides...

Michelle Obama oversaw the transformation to the White House décor Barack Obama's pledge to usher in a new era at the White House has borne fruit in the décor, now heaving with abstract art after a drastic makeover. Not since the exterior had to be painted white after the British reputedly set it ablaze during the 1812 War, have the walls of the US presidential residence undergone such a startling transformation. The landscapes, still life and portraits of the past have been ousted by bold colours, irregular shapes and squiggly lines. Abstract works by modern art icons such as Jasper...

Obama makes Sunday talk show blitzBy Mark Silva WASHINGTON BUREAU - After months of pressing the American public and Congress to support sweeping changes to health care and health insurance, President Barack Obama on Sunday offered a humbling admission: His message is sometimes not "breaking through." Obama tries to build momentum for health overhaulObama will push for new and crucial protections for people who already have insurance JENNIFER LOVEN AP White House Correspondent WASHINGTON — President Barack Obama will tell the nation in a prime-time address precisely how he wants to expand health care, pitching a fresh argument — but, to liberal disappointment, no demand — for a government-run insurance option. Van Jones is an exceptional and inspired leader who has fought to bring economic and environmental justice to communities across our country. He has chosen to resign because he believed he was serving as a distraction to the president's agenda. I respect that decision. Van was working to build a common ground agenda for all Americans, and I am confident he will continue that work. Unfortunately, his critics on the right could find no common ground with him. Clearly, Van was the subject of a right-wing smear campaign shrouded in hypocrisy. Van's chief tormentor Glenn Beck, who spent weeks engaged...

Sarah Palin is, and always has been, an intellectual and political featherweight. As a moose-killing Barbie doll, she was exactly what the Republican Party in Alaska wanted for a mouthpiece. She was adored by the Republican masses in Alaska (she carried a gun and favored secession, the only qualifications needed). That worked well for Alaska. It enhanced the image of Alaska to have someone in frilly blouses, rather than plaid wool shirts, to front for their oil industry. Good for Alaska. Then something weird happened. The Republican Party nominated the oldest person ever put forth by a major political party...

Boehner: Climate bill a 'pile of s--t' By Molly K. Hooper Posted: 06/27/09 09:22 PM [ET] Minority Leader John Boehner (R-Ohio) had a few choice words about House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's (D-Calif.) landmark climate-change bill after its passage Friday. When asked why he read portions of the cap-and-trade bill on the floor Friday night, Boehner told The Hill, "Hey, people deserve to know what's in this pile of s--t." Using his privilege as leader to speak for an unlimited time on the House floor, Boehner spent an hour reading from the 1200-plus page bill that was amended 20 hours before...

. In 1798, during the Quasi-war with France, Congress, with President John Adams’s support, passed the Sedition Act. Outraged by attacks on her husband, Abigail Adams supported the act, which was opposed by Thomas Jefferson and James Madison, among others. “Let us not establish a tyranny,” wrote an alarmed Alexander Hamilton to an ally in Congress. Indeed, the Sedition Act, an obvious violation of the First Amendment, made a permanent blot on Adams’s presidency. Here is part of its text: “If any person shall write, print, utter or publish, or shall cause or procure to be written, printed, uttered or...

June 18, 2009 — A picture of colorfully-plumed dinosaurs graces an article on National Geographic, but were feathers found with the fossil? No; the article said, “Primitive feathers may have covered the dinosaur’s body, but there is no direct evidence for that, noted [James] Clark, whose work was funded in part by the National Geographic Society” (which also owns National Geographic News). The feathers are apparently completely imaginary. National Geographic has been caught doing this before...

Radiometric dating is often used to “prove” rocks are millions of years old. Once you understand the basic science, however, you can see how wrong assumptions lead to incorrect dates. Most people think that radioactive dating has proven the earth is billions of years old. After all, textbooks, media, and museums glibly present ages of millions of years as fact. Yet few people know how radiometric dating works or bother to ask what assumptions drive the conclusions. So let’s take a closer look and see how reliable this dating method really is...

Despite “decades of persistent failure to create life by the ‘spark in the soup’ method,”[1] evolutionary biochemists are still trying to find an exclusively naturalistic explanation for how the first cell developed. Many possible chemical precursors to life have been systematically ruled out by rigorous experiments. What they have found is that the molecules necessary for life are found exclusively within cells that are already living. One explanation proposed by evolutionists...

For many Minnesota Muslims, it's been virtually impossible to buy a home, because Islamic law forbids the paying or charging of interest. The African Development Center, with support from the state's housing agency, is now offering Islamic mortgages as a way to help close the home ownership gap among Muslim immigrants. Minneapolis, Minn. — Islamic law does make exceptions to the ban on interest, if one's family is at stake. But the exceptions are open to interpretation and for many observant Muslims, conventional mortgages are strictly taboo. Nawawi Sheikh is one of them. The Somali-American says he and his wife...
