It is the end of the road for mainstream rear-wheel-drive, four-door internal combustion engine cars. Kia has announced it will end production of the Stinger next year and is sending it out with a run of 1,000 Tribute Edition cars, with 400 earmarked for the U.S. It will be joined in the history books with the Dodge Charger, which is being replaced in 2024 by the all-electric Daytona Charger SRT coupe. Ford, Chevrolet and the non-luxury Japanese brands all stopped selling this type of car years ago as they transitioned to front-wheel-drive and SUV-focused lineups.

Hm. That means it’ll be next to impossible to buy even an old, beat-up, gas-powered car in the future. People will be selling their 2005 Ford Focuses to pay off their mortgages.

“For sale: 1993 Cadillac. Still Runs. Problems with catalytic converter. Seats all torn up. Must sacrifice at $75,000.”

The Global World is encroaching on our lives and it’s seems near impossible to stop it. We would become shut-ins if we were forced to give up our ICE vehicle because there is no way we could afford an EV. Or even install a recharging station at our home. We live 12 miles to our nearest small town so there is no way for us to walk or bike there. The only solution would be for us to sell our property and move into town close to our doctor and a grocery store. I think that is what the Global leaders want.

I’ve been seeing them everyday over in Lancaster County (PA), for decades, and except for the occasional (awful for the horse) accident, they’re doing just fine.

Agreed; I think they’re trying to herd everyone into urban/semi-urban environments, where they’re more easily controlled.

I’ve got a 4-door, rear wheel drive, gas powered TRUCK. I bought one of the last Tundras made with a big V8. Figure it will last me until I die and then my kids will inherit it.

Pretty sure BMW, Mercedes, and Cadillac are all still making RWD sedans. Do they just mean non-“luxury” brands?

The market wants gas powered and affordable cars.

Removing that choice is how the left intends to force you into either buying an exceedingly expensive electric car or no car at all... just rentals

Might be time to put out affordable, gas powered alternatives

There are a lot of hills around here. A buckboard would be impractical, but a horsewhip would get the greenies’ attention.

When we have to give up our cars and take busses filled with liberal bums crapping on the seats, we had better make sure that EVERY home of the elite has no power, no water, absolutely no cars going in or out, and the residents afraid to look out of their windows. Not even close to kidding. Enough is enough. Make the b*stards and b*tches fear (quite properly) for their lives.

Nothing wrong with most of the rear-drive setups except for winter traction. Some of the front drives aren’t real great in that area either. Very few inline engine setups in cheap rear drives & the transverse engines create their own service headaches. AWD is good except rather complicated, expensive, & has it’s own unique service headaches. The auto industry seems perfectly satisfied with not necessarily building what is practical or what the public wants. As an example: the latest electrics.
