I'm writing this from an internet cafe in La Paz, Bolivia. About fifteen minutes ago, I started to hear what I think was gunfire and cannon fire from right outside the cafe. It was shortly followed by bullhorns booming and people chanting. The gunfire is intermittent now.
I have no idea what's happening.
Wasn't Bolivia involved in a referendum to throw out foreign oil companies? I think the opposition there had threatened to take over the coutry and drive out all foreign investment.

There was a peaceful march earlier today by indigenous people today demanding a fair share of the country's oil and gas wealth. I know know if this has anything to do with it.
