bump
EXCELLENT! Thanks so much for letting us hear the audio. Mr. O'Neil made Koppel look like the biased liberal that he is.
I watch it, and John put a new Butt in Koppel, Koppel was a Dem with nowhere to hide!! It was great for us!! Koppel cant take the heat, and he showed it!!
That was an incredible interview. It sounds to me like Nightline crews believe VietCong more than honorable American vets. What else is new? And I read their article online. It says southern Vietnam. Not South Vietnam. So was it North? Because they said had trouble getting permission to go there. Did they go through Kim Jong Il, who's already rooting for Kerry?
O'Neill tore Koppel apart.
Why didn't Koppel just ask Kerry to sign an 180 form, instead of traveling all the way to VN.<sarcasm In fact the whole press corp is guilty of not making sure, that a man who is trying to attain the highest office of our land, is not properly vetted.
WOW is the word. That was the worst butt-kicking I've ever seen Ted get. Ted was calling into question O'Neill's account of the "Silver Star" incident, when all O'Neill did was basically quote Kerry's own auto-bio. Koppel refused to acknowledge that he was basically arguing with Kerry. O'Neill cleaned his clock, pure and simple. And here Koppel thought he had O'Neill nailed? LOL Koppel brought a knife to a gun fight.
bump for morning
I just finished watching this on the West coast and this was the most blatant, biased, one-sided piece of "journalism" I've ever witnessed. Utterly appalling.
I watched it on TV and did you see Kopple roll his eyes when they went to break.
If someone can update the link above, the guy who caped this has now included the first 15 minutes of the Nightline story.

The woman gave it away when she said they raided a us base and took some weapons and they are still in this field here. I don't think they can own weapons. The production was in the Mike Moore class. I had Dan Rather on my mind when he was attempting to use the Propaganda as his truth rather that Kerry's own words.
Thanks.
Now I can hear via windows media.
I watched it, but it's worth a
repeat listen. O'Neill hammered Ted.
That site has the Dennis Miller appearance on Leno and a bunch of other stuff. Saved to my HD...
If you didn't watch Nightline,
hear O'Neill in rwfromkansas's posted link!
oh my......I just downloaded the Dennis Miller clip on Leno (also on the site).
What a blast! I love this guy.
I watched the show earlier and found it incomprehensible that these people would remember the very day John Kerry came to town. This river was active during the war. The Vietnamese who lived there, probably saw a lot of action in the area. Now, some thirty-five or more years later, Ted Koppel doesn't find it strange at all that these people remember those events in intimate detail.
I've had some pretty outstanding things happen to me in my lifetime. I don't think I could remember the finer details of any events that happend to me 35 years ago. This doesn't bother Koppel at all. Foward he marches.
These news programs are all turning into a sortof 'we know the story we want, now go find something to back it up' mentality.
When Kopper pushed for an answer about where O'Neil came up with some of his accounts, it was devistating that he had two books, one written by Kerry that backed his version. Unphased, Koppel just laughed and said he'd seen the books. There was no acknowledgement of the pie all over his face.
Nightline - lights out
I just watched that broadcast Hawaiian time, could you please tell me if Koppel gave a commentary after the broadcast you watched? I also paid close attention to the date on the tombstone it said 5/12/1969.
