IN CASE YOU MISSED IT:
Press Release from Secretary of State Geoff Connor
Zero Tolerance Policy on Voter Fraud
Don't Mess With Texas Voters;
Don't Mess With Texas Votes
Secretary of State Connor Joins State &
Federal Law Enforcement in Election Alert
AUSTIN - Secretary of State Geoff Connor announced Friday that his office is joining with the Texas Attorney General Gregg Abbott, the Texas Department of Public Safety and Texas' four U.S. Attorneys in an effort to insure the integrity of Texas balloting by launching a statewide watch for incidents of voter intimidation or voter fraud on Election Day.
"Voter interest appears to be running at or near an all-time high for this election. We're determined to insure that such enthusiasm is rewarded with a fair and honest Election Day," Connor said.
"To anyone who might be considering engaging in any sort of voter intimidation or voter fraud, our message is simple and clear: Don't mess with Texas voters; don't mess with Texas votes."
Connor announced a Voter Hotline number of 800/ 252-VOTE (8683), which anyone can use to notify the Secretary of State's Office on Election Day about any sign of voter irregularities.
Texas' U.S. Attorneys - Johnny Sutton of the Western District in San Antonio, Matthew Orwig of the Eastern District in Beaumont, Richard Roper of the Northern District in Dallas and Michael Shelby of the Southern District in Houston -- also will be announcing regional hotlines staffed in field offices across the state.
"We have had extensive discussions with these federal and state law enforcement officials, and voters can rest assured that we will vigilantly pursue any cases of voter fraud or voter intimidation," Connor said.
Connor noted that his office has trained more than 400 Election Inspectors, who will be on hand in practically every county in the state, and that DPS and FBI agents will be on call and spread across the state on Election Day, as well.
In Texas they shoot vote fraud perps on site don't they?
Each day I become more angry. Where is the outrage from the national media that such actions are even necessary. When the democrats state in their own manual they intend to create a fog of misinformation about voting problems they do not exist and the national media pretends it has never happened. Can there be any more doubt in anyone's mind that the national media is working to elect Kerry?
Then we party.
It's getting old.
only after dark....
I know a few election judges who might.
Dems immediately complain, say it will disenfranchise voters.
They didn't comment on the fact that they were talking about dead voters.
True in Statewide elections, but a few of the newly redistricted house races will be close, so this is important.
I see.
LOL!
Come On Down to South Texas!
We still have fun down here!;^)
Which ones? Possibly Stenholm/Nuggewhatizname and maybe Poe/Lampson. Martin Frost is on drugs to think he has a chance.
Becky Klein vs. Lloyd Dog Get!
I'll be down for the Texas Party. It's a bit dim here in Collyfornia. No Bush/ Cheney/ Schwarzenegger in sight. (I don't especially blame them).
I'm ready for us Texans to pass a law that says committing voter fraud results in receiving the death penalty. :)
"To anyone who might be considering engaging in any sort of voter intimidation or voter fraud, our message is simple and clear: Don't mess with Texas voters; don't mess with Texas votes."Amen and Bump!
What we didn't realize is that no hispanic candidate would immediately rise to the opportunity. Lloyd Doggett, with his huge campaign warchest, went on the offensive immediately. Campaigning in his new district which included parts of Texas he'd never visited, and with an overwhelming campaign budget, he overwhelmed the eventual Democrat hispanic who saw the opportunity the Republicans had deliberately created.
Now, Doggett is facing a hispanic Republican and it's somewhat of a battle. There is no way in hell that, even if she won this time, that this is a Republican district. She'd be defeated in 2006 bigtime.
Not that it matters, because I think Doggett cruises to victory in November.
Bet you a fajita dinner!
Okay, you're on. I want to lose that bet!
Perhaps, because the Media is better than 90% Democrat, Treps? And well over 50% 'Progressive'?
Jack.
