Worth Re-Reading Before Election Day: "If I Were the Devil" by Paul Harvey

If I were the devil
by Paul Harvey

© 1999 WorldNetDaily.com

I would gain control of the most powerful nation in the world;

I would delude their minds into thinking that they had come from man's effort, instead of God's blessings;

I would promote an attitude of loving things and using people, instead of the other way around;

I would dupe entire states into relying on gambling for their state revenue;

I would convince people that character is not an issue when it comes to leadership;

I would make it legal to take the life of unborn babies;

I would make it socially acceptable to take one's own life, and invent machines to make it convenient;

I would cheapen human life as much as possible so that the life of animals are valued more than human beings;

I would take God out of the schools, where even the mention of His name was grounds for a lawsuit;

I would come up with drugs that sedate the mind and target the young, and I would get sports heroes to advertise them;

I would get control of the media, so that every night I could pollute the mind of every family member for my agenda;

I would attack the family, the backbone of any nation.

I would make divorce acceptable and easy, even fashionable. If the family crumbles, so does the nation;

I would compel people to express their most depraved fantasies on canvas and movie screens, and I would call it art;

I would convince the world that people are born homosexuals, and that their lifestyles should be accepted and marveled;

I would convince the people that right and wrong are determined by a few who call themselves authorities and refer to their agenda as politically correct;

I would persuade people that the church is irrelevant and out of date, and the Bible is for the naive;

I would dull the minds of Christians, and make them believe that prayer is not important, and that faithfulness and obedience are optional;

I guess I would leave things pretty much the way they are.

Paul Harvey is the dean of U.S. radio commentators.

I would audit zeppenwolf's taxes.

I would bankrupt freerepublic.com.

I would kick Bill Burkett's butt, for not following directions.

I would go see Team America, (hey, even I need a break), then I would promote hip-hop "musicians".

I would discover oil, gold, and platinum in fr*nce.

Then finally I would just turn it over to Hillary in '08.

The devil is alive and well in America and that is very sad when you think about the original foundation of this country. However, Jesus too, is alive and well and victorious!!! Keep praying for America, there is still hope!

I would make divorce acceptable and easy

I wonder how many FReepers remember when divorce was quite unacceptable, socially.

I love listening to Mr. Harvey whenever I can. Do you know if he's in semi-retirement? Is it his son who is picking up some of the broadcasts?

Like a plethora of other abominations, divorce is a reality to which most simply acquiesce.

No, I'm too young to remember those days of which you speak, but I do long for that kind of America again.

Half of the country is poised to vote for one of the Dark Lord's minions - a man who is without honor, principles or any vestige of conscious - an acknowledged enemy of America and all that it stands for. We are teetering at the edge of the precipice - oblivious to the destruction only a hair's breath away.

It was only by the grace of God that we have a man like George W Bush at this juncture in our Christian civilization, and not another one of the Dark Lord's minions. Do you remember how close we came to Al Gore being President?

The good Lord in his mercy has given us a second chance. But I fear the Lord will soon abandon us to our folly as we have abandoned Him. And there will be a great woe upon the whole earth as God exacts his righteous judgment.

God have mercy on us. Although we are not worthy. Leave us not to our just deserts, but deliver us from the evil within us.
