It was Carter Vs. Ford, so where were you during the course of that election and when Carter claimed his victory(unfortunately). It was a pretty close race.
Was in college in New Mexico. First time that I voted for President and I voted for Ford. Have voted for a Republican Prez. ever since. That year New Mexico voted out Dem Joe Montoya (a total idiot) for U.S. Senator and voted in GOP Harrison "Jack" Schmidt. We all said that the nation lost when Carter won, but at least New Mexico won when Montoya lost. Unfortunately, Schmidt lost his re-election bid in 1982. Worthless Jeff Bingaman holds that seat now.

I guess I was part of the silent majority that let the loud mouthed, looney left, commie sympathizing Ba#^#rds get a better foothold in their attempt to take us down socialism's pathway.

Just getting out of college. I was a democrat then and never made it to a voting booth, ha ha.
I was 5 for most of the year, enjoying the July 4th fireworks and the song "Afternoon Delight" by the Starland Vocal Band. :)

Cubi Point O'club I suppose. I voted absentee. I figured a Ford was better than a Carter, the Mustang was the vehicle of choice, if one could not afford a Vette. I really knew nothing of either candidate, except Carter had been in the Navy and maybe so had Ford, and he had played football in a leather helmet. Nonetheless he had my slightly uninformed vote.
I was six years old in 1976.
Actually, what I'm really curious about is what % of current active FReepers were among the collection of nitwits that voted for Perot in 1992.
Certainly a minority, but I wonder if it's negligible, or significant. I bet it's over 5%.

At my grandparents. Grandmother; great cook, always (except once) voted democrat, served us peanuts for breakfast the morning after the election.
I was working for the gummint in DC, and I voted for Carter. It was easy, after having voted for McGovern in '72 (in Floriduh).
Those were the only times I ever voted for Democrats, and I'm really, really sorry, and it won't happen ever again.
Bicentennial Independence day was cool, there was beer all over the Mall and the Beach Boys rocked. Boat people were an issue. Double digit inflation meant spend it before it's worthless, party all the time. Or maybe that was youthful immaturity, like voting for that idiot Carter.

My neighbor was a Norwegian immigrant. She drove us to school that week in the carpool. She kept telling us after Carter won that the country was going straight to hell! LOL, I told my mom and she agreed with the neighbor.
I was a 16 year old junior in high school who portrayed Gerald Ford in my American history class presidential debate.
Ford won the debate and election hands down in that class and I registered as a Republican when I turned 18 two years later.
I was in Catholic school in Brooklyn New York in an overwhelmingly Democrat area.
Voted for Carter thinking I was voting for less government -- I was dumb kid!
Stopped in Plains the week after the election and had a nice talk with Miss Lilllian in the post office.
