"Women who are thinking about becoming pregnant are usually advised to stay away from alcoholic beverages. Now, new research suggests that their partners should do the same"

Yeah yeah, we heard ince or twice an hour for the past 15 years that alcohol and tobacco are bad for our unborn babies...that must be why the Democrats are now paying voter fraudsters in crack cocain.

Seriously, I'm sick of all the bogus crisis hype every day. Neither of my daughters nor their spouses are drinkers, yet one daughter had a miscarriage last year, and both daughters have given birth prematurely...fortunately, their babies are still alive, though one is still in a NICU.

I so hate when they write these stories having no concept of how epidemiology and statistics work.

I'm not and never will advocate drinking while pregnant...but these numbers mean absolutely nothing.

It shouldn't matter much what the men were drinking around the time of conception because sperm are formed THREE MONTHS BEFORE conception.

Reputable studies show that very moderate drinking is actually beneficial during pregnancy.

This study is probably junk. Most likely, the male effect is simply a correlate for women who drink, but lie about it, or other societal ills associated with excessive drinking in the family (and which can harm fetal health.)

Shucks, maybe when guys get drunk and have sex, it's more likely they are doing so with a woman with less-than-stellar genetics, if you know what I mean.

Alternate headline: "Irresponsible People Have More Health Problems!"

Drinking certainly leads to increased conception rates! ;-)

Well, drinking during the conception event definitely reduces a man's chances of, uh, conceiving, if you know what I mean...

There's a lot of people who won't go near each other unless they're liquored up first.
