California Muslims Running Public Education Ads Through Ramadan

The Southern California office of the Council on American-Islamic Relations is running radio ads intended to education the public about the Muslim fast of Ramadan.

The six, 60-second spots will run for the next month, CAIR-LA said.

CAIR points to recent research showing that as many as 1 in 4 Americans holds anti-Muslim views. But the research also show that the anti-Muslim bias decreases when people "get accurate information about Islam and relate to ordinary Muslims."

The first ad CAIR-LA is running begins with the Muslim call to prayer.

"Ramadan is a month of fasting from dawn to sunset," the ad says. "It is a time for spiritual purification, worship, inner reflection, and increased charity and empathy for those less fortunate. It is a time to re-connect with our Creator and make peace with all people. We invite our fellow Americans of all faiths to join in spreading this spirit of peace and brotherhood in our communities.

"The Muslim community wishes everyone a very blessed and peaceful Ramadan."

During Ramadan, which begins with the sighting of the new moon on or around Oct. 15, Muslims abstain from food, drink and other sensual pleasures from sunup to sundown.

Muslims believe it was during Ramadan about 1,400 years ago that the Quran, Islam's holy book, was revealed to the Prophet Muhammad.

Fasting (along with the declaration of faith, daily prayers, charity, and pilgrimage to Mecca) is one of the "five pillars" of Islam. CAIR said the fasting teaches discipline, self-restraint, generosity, and obedience to God's commandments.

The Quran states: "O believers! Fasting is prescribed for you as it was prescribed for those before you so that you may learn self-restraint...."

The Prophet Muhammad said: "Whoever fasts in the month of Ramadan out of sincere faith, and hoping for a reward from God, all his previous sins will be forgiven."

This year, CAIR, as part of its outreach effort, is encouraging mosques and Islamic centers nationwide to invite non-Muslims to break the daily fast with them.

The end of Ramadan is marked by a feast called "Eid ul-Fitr," or feast of the fast-breaking, which will happen on or about November 13 this year.

My doctor says this is ill-advised at best.

My GOD says it is ill-advised, period. The muslim god is a god with a little g, if they have a god at all - he's very small indeed and not to be honored by Christians.

Will America stop this cancer or not? I'm glad I'm old enough that I will be gone when bindage and torture of Christians begins.

Great. Now when can the Christians run PSAs to educate the public about the Son of God?

The muslim god is a god with a little g

Actually, it's is a false god. And what's more, don't believe anyone who claims that Islam means "peace." Islam, literally translated, means submission.

And there ain't nothing "peaceful" about being forced to submit to a false god.

"The Muslim community wishes everyone a very blessed and peaceful Ramadan."

And ain't it funny that a lot of Muslim-on-Muslim wars have been conducted during Ramadan? And last I saw, Ramadan sure didn't stop the Islamofascists from attacking us.

Actually, it's is a false god<<<

That is my true feeling, but I was not sure when I thought about God saying that we should have no other gods before Him - to me, the implication is, is that there are other gods (real or not) and we should not worship them.

Guess I stated that the wrong way ! I do not think the muslims have a god at all, but if they do worship something, I gave it a little g.

Thanks for the correction.

Cool! Does this mean they will run ads during Holy Week, so all the atheists will understand what I'm doing/practicing - you know, break the myths surrounding Christianity?????

Somehow, I doubt it.

Does this mean they can't fly planes into buildings in the daytime?

And you'd be right in your doubt. After all, the ACLU sees nothing with Islam being taught in the public schools, but if you mention Jesus or Christianity just once, the ACLU will descend on you like a horde of locusts.

Now we're supposed to be all happy about the Islamic holiday of Ramadan while we Christians have to be careful about saying "Merry Christmas" at work.

This nation has lost its way. It's up to us to put it back on the right path. Sure, the Leftists will scream bloody murder and all that, but I always take that as a sign that we're doing The Right Thing(tm).

Islam is a caustic blend of regurgitated paganism and twisted Bible stories.
Muhammad, its lone prophet, conceived his religion solely to satiate his lust for power, sex, and money.
He was a terrorist.

Ramadan, let's see.

Doesn't that commemorate that Arab guy making up the Koran.

If memory serves me, I think that Muslims celebrate Ramadan by blowing up more things than usual.

I like to celebrate Ramadan by eating pork chops.
