I remember the name, but not the band.
Did they/do they suck?

Reminds me. If only they'd bring back the 'Keen Eddie' program. Best TV show I've seen in a long time.

Ping to remind me to post the photo of me and Duran Duran in 1994. I won front row seats and a photo op with the band.
The next time I saw them in about 1996, Simon was practically falling off the stage and getting all of the words to his own songs wrong. It was really sad.

This brings back memories. I remember lying in bed at night listening to an all-Duran Duran radio station back in the 80s and practically falling asleep at school the next day.

Planet Earth is one of the best dance tracks of all time. Other notable mentions from that Blitz Era : To Cut a Long Story Short - Spandau Ballet; Just Can't Get Enough - Depeche Mode; I Ran - Flock of Seagulls; Fade to Gray - Visage; Tainted Love - Soft Cell; Blue Monday - New Order; Homosapien - Pete Shelley.
I could keep going. There were many great songs from the early, mid 80's. Many of the songs were quite boppy, fun and light in their content. A lot of pop of the late 90's became very nihilistic and dark.

Growing up in the Duran Duran hey day,I can tell you there was nothing quite like it. (Maybe New Kids on the Block in pure hysteria). At least Duran Duran was popular on college radio and got some regular radio air play before the teeny bopper crowd latched on to them. I was in middle school then and these girls would go insane over them quite literally our of their mind.

Ahhh, I still have some DD albums and some obscure ones by them too.
But my fave 80's band was out of Scotland. BIG COUNTRY was unbeatable to me, U2 was just second fiddle to those guys IMHO...
Pick up a copy of the album "Steeltown" by Big Country. Feel the power...
