Hey everyone know how we all feel helpless when it comes to fighting the big media outlets? Well what if every person on freeper bought one(1) share each of the stock of ABC,NBC,CBS,CNN and other broadcasting groups. Then choose a spokesperson and give them proxy to vote the shares as a block--if only 10,000 people did this we could effectively clog up stockholder meetings and have the muscle to at least do something.
I'm afraid public protest is the only way to disrupt a shareholder meeting, and that doesn't cost that much.
DEFEATISM everywhere---
No. How many?
I have a better idea.
This week, I bought stock in Sinclair Broadcast Group, Inc.
I also ordered 3 copies of "Stolen Honor," at their website,
www.stolenhonor.com.
Sinclair Broadcast and Carlton Sherwood have my support.
They are fighting a courageous battle against the vast mainstream liberal media, as well as the Kerry Campaign, in their effort to broadcast the TRUTH about John Kerry.
By holding that one single share, you'll cost them money every year.
We're buying stock in Sinclair this week too, and I've been spreading the word to buy it now.
But I think we need a Boston Tea Party kind of event to protest the media and liberals in general. We need a very large, very organized event type thing that really gets peoples attention......don't know what that would be, but something has to change.
OK...I'm in. How did you buy the stock? Did you go through a private broker?
I agree as a republican(married a Reagan) I have been very dissapionted in the response to the democrats. As to the stocks every stockholder has the right to pose questions at the stockholders meetings and these questions have to be addressed and printed in the stockholders annual reports. If even 10,000 questions were posed to them the expense of extending the meetings, printing costs could be a more effective protest than "just not watching" remember for every one of us that does not watch there are at least three brain dead that will watch.
I called my broker, and could do it though him, but it would cost me a $50.00 trade fee, he suggested I go through e-trade (which we've had an acct. for years but haven't used in over a year) and the fee is much less. That means we can buy MORE stock with lower trade fee and still spend the same amount. He also said ScottTrade would be a good one to use.
That's a good point....hit them where it hurts (the bottom line)...like slow bleeding.
How do you do that? Each one of us buys a share, or do you have to go in as a group for buy in large $ amount?
You can use several sites on the internet to buy stocks for a low commision fee then choose someone from the group of freeper stockholders to be our spokesman--sign our proxie forms giving him or her permission to vote or submit questions for our group. We can each buy as many shares as you want but at least one share-remember we would want to do this where everyone can participate without incurring a huge monetary expense.
You know, I can't answer that....we were looking this morning getting ready to buy today. We've been talking about it for a few days and decided this morning to go ahead. I've been checking on sbgi as to the cost now, it's down to 6.31, but I hadn't looked to see if it's common or premium. Glad you brought that up.
Do me a favor and let me know what you end up doing? I understand that their stock is running about $6 and change and I would assume that is common...not a bad deal!!! But I would imagine we aren't the only ones with this brilliant idea and the stock may sore today!
