More Americans, young and old, need to start aggressively reacting to the America Bashing. Boycotting, confrontation, whatever it takes. At this point, other nations are trying to tell Americans not only will THEY decide how WE will protect our borders, but that THEY will select the next President as well. Time to stomp our tiny foot and tell them to shut up and go home.

And anytime soon that we decide to expel the UN would okay with me.

Well, what I was thinking of was that I never saw a German get in anybody's face for anything, let alone soldiers' faces. I never met more pacifistic people in my life.

Maybe this guy just got balls when bitching at children or walking wounded.

skeps,
Yeah, Scots too are serious about their rough-housing.

As for Germans though, I have to say that I rarely saw them fight, and then it was hilarious. One would kind of slap the other, then run back a few meters, then the other would charge in and land a punch and jump back.
This observation absolutely does not include the Polizei, who were much more energetic and indeed enthusiastic about whompin' on Joes.

In general ee never had trouble with the 'rads, as we called them. Turks, and other GIs for that matter, were far more dangerous.

Years ago, we Amercians were paid a complement by a visiting German. He remarked that when you ask an American a question, he will say, gosh, I don't know a lot about that and will provide the most brilliant explanation of whatever it is. When a German is asked will get on his soapbox and proclaim himself an expert while delivering the biggest pile of you know what and call it fact.

Maybe the Dems have taken on some German traits and the conservatives still have American ones ;)

I have seen many Germans get into someone's face.

Dissent is not welcome in liberal circles there either.

When I was in BDR as a soldier, we might screw around with each other, or even MPs, but NEVER with Bundespolizei! General attitude was that they would shoot if they had an excuse, and use a sap even if they didn't.
Description of taking down a drunk and violent GI was that one polizei pulled a gun and got his attention. The other came up behind him and knocked him out. Not down, and he didn't 'cuffed him; he knocked him unconscious, as in "concussion."
The moron deserved it, though.

I was born and raised in Germany and still have relatives there. Last week my brother called me and asked me if I would ever come back for a visit. I replied that I had no intention. When he asked me why I told him that Germany has changed so much as to what I remember and I rather keep my fond memory of my youth and early marriage in the 60s

My neighbor was also born in Germany. In the East, if I remember right, and came here after WWII.

I haven't talked politics with him much, but the only political sign that has ever stood in our neighborhood was his "I support America and President Bush" sign right after 9/11.
