If this is true it could spell disaster for the Bush campaign in Arizona and Nevada. $3+ a gallon gas could cause trouble for Bush even though the educated among us know that it is liberals like Kerry that have reduced our production capacity.

If this story gets going, even as an unsubstantiated rumor, the "several day" supply of gas will be gone in several hours.

There's a video at azcentral.com saying that the train derailment in California last week and/or the current flooding may have damaged one of two gasoline pipelines to Phoenix. No other info.

ARTICLE SNIPPET: "One of two gasoline-supply lines into metro Phoenix has been shut down while workers examine and repair possible damage caused by a train derailment on Wednesday morning near Fontana, Calif.

Immediate shortages are not expected, and pipeline operator Kinder Morgan Energy Partners has a plan to reopen the pipeline by Friday night. But company officials caution it could take longer."
