MSNBC Reports Wrong Times for Florida Polling Places
MSNBC website ^ | MSNBC

Please help stop NBC. They are trying to do it again. Please note: on this MSNBC website: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/6290776/ they list Florida polls closing at 7 p.m. ET on Nov. 2. Half of the panhandle of Florida is in the Central Time Zone. Polls in West Florida close at 8 p.m. ET (7 p.m. Central Time). West Florida is very conservative. I am convinced that if NBC and others had not announced Algore the winner before the polls closed last time, Bush would have won Floirida by thousands of votes (not just hundreds).

Didn't even Bob Beckel, one of the most vocal yet candid Democratic spinsters say that the early declaration of the polls being closed in FL cost Bush thousands of net votes?

I'm pretty sure some Democrat said this.

I would hope that, after the 2000 debacle, people would get the message.

YOU are responsible for your vote. DON'T depend on MSM to tell you straight.

As I mentioned it on an earlier thread, Michigan also extends into the Central time zone. If it gets close in Michigan, they could pull the same stunt here.

There's plenty of voter fraud to worry about, but this isn't a major deal. Our people are on to this crap, and they'll get to the polls.

There were two studies.

The GOP study indicated a net loss to Bush of 10000 votes.

The DEM study (Beckel) indicated a net loss to Bush of 8000 votes.

Correct answer probably somewhere in the middle. That both studies came to similar conclusions indicates that Bush lost enough votes to permit all the BS in Florida to occur.

The most effective way to fight the legacy media on this is
to get everyone you know to vote early, and in person.

Add this to all the felons who voted when they weren't supposed to, plus the thrown-out military/overseas ballots and its an effective counter to the idea that if the intent of all eligible FL voters had been realized then Gore would have won.

I'm afraid that most of Michigan's Upper Peninsula usually votes reliably Democratic. The part of the UP that is in the Central Time Zone is the south west and probably does not have enough Republican votes to make a difference like the Florida panhandle.

Floridians, at least those in Citrus County, have been getting county government literature mailed to them, on the November elections, for over three months. Including the sample ballot with amendments.

Of course Citrus County residents seem to be able to read. ;)

The RNC should be doing PSA's in the panhandle announcing polling times to avoid a repeat of 2000 when the networks announced that the polls were closing at 7:00 EDT and claimed, initially, a Gore win in FL.

But, if the panhandle residents fall for that lib/Dem tactic again in 2004, maybe they shouldn't be voting, anyway.

Still, we should try to correct MSM every chance we get. So, how about everybody sending MSNBC an email telling them to correct the info on their website. It just takes a minute. letters@msnbc.com
Thanks.

As I'm sure other FREEPERS have done, I sent a message to the MSNBC website editor, explaining the error, and reminding him of the anticipated litigation, and how it would be unpleasant for MSNBC's website staff to be included. :o)

You are right in that regard. The western cities in the UP probably don't even have 5% of the population of Detroit. There are a lot of retirees up there, but there are LOT of hunters and basically some very independent people. It is the principle of the thing: Don't call a state until all it's polls are closed.

My apologies for hitting POST a second time. More apologies for having to take up valuable Free Republic bandwith to apologize for the original screw up. :o)

Could I just start off each morning apologizing in advance?
I'm likely to screw up at least once a day anyway!
