Your life must be in imminent danger.

This is awful!!
The RNC should ask for volunteers to stand outside the polling place and videotape the line of voters to prevent this kind of thing!!!
volunteers with shotguns. i'm pissed, but not surprised.

I pray that I am not harassed in any way when I go to the polls. I don't know if I have the proper amount of cash for my bail.

She said the party hasn't taken affidavits from voters and found it shocking the Republicans were so focused on the issue rather than working to make sure people can vote.
Say WHAT???!!! After all the Cain they've raised BEFORE the fact about potential voter intimidation??!!

In Ohio, I will be carrying my cell phone when I vote and very possibly a recorder. This nonsense has to stop somewhere.
And we are a conceal/carry state.
In this part of OHio, SW quadrant, the Bush/Cheney signs far outnumber the others. Unlike Cleveland where the real far left will be voting.

I have a suggestion, but I don't know about the legality.
If FReepers live in areas where this kind of intimidation is likely, why not take video cameras to the polling places? Ideally while you are voting, but if the problems are constant, a little bit of footage could to a long way.
This won't stop until people are arrested and convicted.

Why am I not surprised???
Uhmm, because it's been going on as long as democracy has existed? One of the great vignettes from Dickens' 'The Pickwick Papers' describes a local political election battle between the 'Buffs' and the 'Blues". It takes place back in 1830 or so, and includes drunken brawling at the polling places, newspaper editors for either side hurling insults at each other, vitriolic denunciations, etc, etc.

Actually, this is a problem in the regular elections, too. It's 50 feet, technically, but there is some uncertainty as to where the 50 feet begins, and for some reason they seem to be able to get within 10 feet of the door. The supervisor of each polling place is supposed to make sure that electioneers stay back, and there is a deputy to enforce this, but in practice, electioneering activities are carried out much closer than they should be. In the last election, people in some precincts had to pass through lines of sign-waving Gore supporters who were trying to press Dem sample ballots into their hands; in at least one case, I was told that the Gore supporters were clustered around the door and even entered the polling place to distribute Dem sample ballots.
If it was that bad four years ago, it's going to be much worse this time. I wish we did what New York does, that is, put up signs marking the limits of the polling area and then have uniformed police officers standing there to enforce them.

In GA there are laws prohibiting campaigning on voting property. Don't these laws exist in FL? I thought all states had them, but a Google search wasn't too satisfactory.
It was discussed last night here:

"They can't prevent ANY of us from casting our lawful ballots for GWB." Unless we're in the hospital recovering from being hit with rocks and dirt, as per earlier post.

Yes I agree, Gov Bush needs to call in the police, national guard, something. But another way to look at it is this: all the Kerry thugs are voting now. That will leave more room for Bush supporters to vote when the election really kicks into high gear come Nov 2nd.
Let them vote early, get them out of the way and let the true constiuency vote Nov 2nd.
