Supreme Court refuses to put Nader on Pennsylvania ballot

WASHINGTON --

The Supreme Court on Saturday refused to place independent presidential candidate Ralph Nader on the ballot in Pennsylvania, upholding a state court finding of flawed signatures on voter petition sheets.

Nader asked the high court on Thursday to review Pennsylvania's decision to remove him. A state court cited legal problems with his nomination papers that left him thousands of signatures short of the number required for the Nov. 2 ballot.

Nader campaign spokesman Kevin Zeese called the decision "disappointing" and said Nader would continue to appeal decisions made on the state level, even after the election.

Nader's request for a review went to Justice David H. Souter, who referred the matter to the full court. The justices on Saturday denied the appeal. Nader wanted the justices to put him on the ballot while they considered whether to hear an appeal of the Pennsylvania ruling.

Wish Nader were on the ballot, but if you don't get the votes, you don't get the votes.

Looking at things realistically, I don't think we're going to win this election in PA. PA is not longer a genuine target, and the RNC has cut its ad budget there as a result. Bush-Cheney will win or lose in Ohio and Florida.

I do not see any evidence of a decline in Bush advertisments in PA. Bush was just in PA. Kerry is leading by only 1% and the trend is with Bush.

So, what is his problem? Don't Nader supporters know how to write? Write him in.

So much for having 'Every Vote Count'. I guess in the Rats minds this only means if you are voting for Kerry instead of Bush. You only get two choices in their version of democracy.

In PA, you not only have to write in the candidate's name, you must also write in all 20 of the EC representatives to have the vote counted. I was amazed by that.

If the people of Pennsylvania would kick Philidelphia and the surrounding counties out and then secede to form a new state, then the people would get a better shake.

A state court cited legal problems with his nomination papers that left him thousands of signatures short of the number required for the Nov. 2 ballot.

A similar problem occurred in Oregon. There, the Secretary of State (?) (Maybe Atty General) who was supposed to count the petition signatures allegedly checked a few at random, and found a whole page which he questioned as in the same handwriting, By using the ratio of these to real signatures in the sample, he declared that a large amount of the total were bogus, and thus Nader did not get on the ballot.

Even the TV news did not try to pretend that this procedure had any legitimacy. Just a blatant rat trick.

Sorry, but that's not quite right. In the liberal's version of democracy, you only get one choice.

LOL. But I live in Cook County, and lived in Chicago many years. They go through the motion of putting at least two choices on the ballot.

Wish we could..........

I would settle for highschool classes in civics to teach proper voter etiquette.

Like do not allow other people to fill out ballots for you or lead you like a dog on a leash to the polls and give you a piece of paper that indicates exactly how to mark the ballot.

Geez, is that not illegal anyway?

I thought so..........

Ed Rendell happened to PA. He is doing whatever he can to steal the election for Kerry...Everything seems to be going according to his plan so far. Maybe Philly will have 100% voter turnout this year.

I live in Pennsylvania and there are alot of us voting for the president. I even got some people registered, who are in their fifties who have never voted, and they are voting for our president. It is still close in Pa. The republicans are trying their best to keep our president in office. And to all that pray, Please let's remember to keep our president in our prayers.
