Who Designed This Ballot? (Ohio ballot has Bush incorrectly aligned with arrow) [fraud!]
Power Line ^ | 10/24/04 | Hindrocket

More trouble brewing in Ohio: Reader Evan Rogers sent us this absentee ballot from Cuyahoga County (Cleveland).

Looking at the ballot, one would assume that to vote for President Bush, you'd punch out the green square opposite the arrow. Nope. The right square for Bush is the red one, number four, near the top of the column. That corresponds, I guess, to the number 4 next to the arrow, and I assume that voters are instructed in what those numbers mean. What makes it unreasonable is that to vote for John Kerry, you punch square six, the blue one, which is just opposite Kerry's arrow. So Bush voters are likely to be confused; Kerry voters won't be.

There are probably dozens, if not hundreds, of such sources of confusion in various districts around the country. Depending on the election's outcome, any of them could be grounds for post-election lawsuits.

Looks like a Photoshop job to me. Someone seems to have removed the "1" on both the Badnarik and Bush lines.

Is this particular to this county or is this statewide? Will there be sample ballots sent out ahead of time? Is this a predominently Democrat county?

Move the punch card down three inches and the Bush arrow is lined up and the Kerry arrow is not . . .

Was it you who conveniently cropped the photo to bolster your argument?

Maybe that 2 and 4 actually mean 12 and 14. Both would then line up correctly. That would make more sense than the literal reading of the ballot.

Can someone in Cuyahoga County (Cleveland), OH confirm this and notify the GOP/RNC/Bush offical in the area? If true, this clearly benefits Kerry.

It's a typo, not fraud. Kerry-6, disqualified-8, Petrouka-10, Bednarik-says 2 but should be 12, and Bush-says 4 but should be 14. 6-8-10-12-14. See, every other tab. So, the one next to the arrow is the right one.

It should be fixed, but I doubt there was any foul play intended. It should be brought to the attention of the Cuyahoga County Board of Elections and the Ohio Board of Elections. It will get fixed, I'd put money on it.

If it's B.S. then he should find out quickly enough.

How did they decide to Put Kerry FIRST and Bush LAST? Often undecided people vote for the FIRST candidate on a list.
