My memory is as yours, the gas was to be hauled in barrels as I recall.

My family hates for me to "find a way to make it work", but
each time I hear the can't use the barrels, I think of a piece of garden hose, a hole drilled in the floor and a
separate pipe that runs to an airplane tank.

Wouldn't that be gravity feed, that I am talking about.

There wouldn't be a shortage of young healthy terrorists, who could shift the barrels around for draining.

I don't use all the fancy words, in my era, you took a piece
of baling wire and an old inner tube and made the world work. Just like daddy did....LOL

And if you didn't think of airplanes, do a little googling for stolen boats, there are some big ones that get stolen.

I think there was a cargo ship stolen from right under some sleeping bay patrol guys in Hong Kong harbor once.

Modern turbofans have some peculiar tastes and fancies in how they meter the fuel.

So I'm not sure that would work.

That just might work, except that these types of aircraft are pressurized, and placing "ferry" tank lines through the pressure hull would be a nightmare or pipes, check valves, return lines, pressure pumps, etc. It would be a real engineering feat to accomplish. This type of modification is not likely to be done sitting on the tarmac in the "Dark Continent".
