My first post, so I hope I did this correctly.
Since 1956, Weekly Reader students in grades 1-12 have correctly picked the president, with the sole exception of picking Robert Kennedy prior to his assasination.
Excellent!
At least the third post of this topic. Do a search first.
Your first post is a winner. Well done.
Good. I hadn't seen any earlier posts of this, so I'm glad to see your post.
IF there are earlier posts, the best way to avoid duplication is to search for the actual title of the article you are posting and to use the actual title yourself to avoid duplicates. Sometimes there is no headline or title, which makes it a bit more difficult.
In any case, good job.
Didn't the Weekly Reader vote go for Bush in '92?
Welcome, Retired US Army Master Sergeant..!
Good post and welcome to FR!
this is good news...let's hope that it matches the end game numbers!!!!
I believe that the younger grades voted for Bush in 1992, but the overall poll results chose Clinton.
Wow! Flashback! I remember voting in this one as a young elementary school student.
My parents had me brainwashed to vote for RFK at the time. It was another 5 or 6 years before I found out JFK and his family were not demi-gods. And discovered that JFK was not engraved on Mt. Rushmore.
Thanks I needed that! Its monday and the Falcons got killed yesterday!
Yes they did go for Bush over Clinton in '92 but the headline keeps saying "right since 1956" or something like that. Still, they have a good track record. I've said this on other posts but perhaps it bears repeating. The WR poll picked VP Bush over Dukakis 58-42 in 1988. They overestimated the GOP vote by 5 points. If that standards holds for this year then GWB gets 60%! ;-) OK, not going to happen, but we can dream.
In any case if this is at all indicative of how some of the parents of these kids are voting, then it is good news.
I believe the "Perot Factor" was the reason for the 1992 results - Perot was NOT on the Weekly Reader ballot (because he had dropped out of the race), but, of course, was a factor on the actual election day.
Prepare to become addicted!
I should know, I voted for the runt....much to my eternal shame.
For those of us who do not have FR constantly up on our browser, it is useful to repeat post of significant information every once in a while. Otherwise it is totallly missed. I appreciate the repost.
Thanks, adcamp!
