Same with Rathergate. FreeRepublic started it, the bloggers took it much further, but without Drudge it's doubtful whether it would have broken into the evening news and the headlines.

Why can't VP Cheney go on all the morning talk shows tomorrow and ask for Kerry's apology. Afterall, Kerry said the President was incompetent several times today over this issue.
The NBC report does not make it clear that it is blowing a hole in the NYT story by establishing that the explosives were gone by the time our soldiers arrived. Why does NBC keep the point muddled and fail to ask how Kerry can fault Bush for this?

Loftus was insinuating that Clintoon had to make an appearance and that he will not commit to any further appearances given his weakened state. I gather he needs to walk a fine line here. His wife does not want Kerry to win in 04 and for that matter neither does the present Democratic party heads. But he must appear that he does hence the polemics on Bush's tax cuts etc.

NBC is running with the story only because they know the truth will come out soon..so they might as well get the scoop....even if it helps Bush.
I noticed this too. NBC had a real exclusive plus a big opportunity to blacken a rival news organizations eye, and they blew it.
Obviously their love of kerry got the better of their professional obligation to do their job. It took some sharp eyes to spot this.
