NEW YORK TIMES PHONY WEAPONS STORY -- you might want to call them at (212) 556-1234
10-26-04 | dfu

Posted on 10/26/2004 6:28:45 AM PDT by doug from upland

The NY TIMES has attempted to pull an October surprise with an apparent fabricated story that was even shopped to 60 MINUTES.

A huge cache of very serious weapons, about 380 tons of HMX and RDX, were supposedly lost because U.S. troops did not guard them. It is, of course, more evidence that George Bush is an incompetent commander in chief and must go.

Unfortunately for the Old Gray Lady, now seemingly to be closer to yellow for its yellow journalism, Jim Miklaszewski of NBC reported the truth in April of 2003 --- the weapons were gone before U.S. troops got to the weapons depot.

John Forbes Kerry, a traitor to this nation in the Vietnam era and an unthinkable commander in chief, used the phony info on the campaign stump yesterday.

If you would like to call the NY TIMES ---

Listen to the prompts and get to the news desk (I think one of the buttons was for international news)

"The way I see it, the press is covering their own A$$. The lying John Kerry would never have been anointed the Democrat nominee if the press had been doing their job "

Exactly. When Kerry was closing in on the prize in January, I told my wife "how can this be happening? This guy has more baggage than O'Hare airport."

And who am I? Just a Chicago truck driver, for crying out loud (but a truck driver who well remembers being insulted by the John Kerry of yesteryear).

I just got off the phone with them. The woman who answered the phone stood by the story and said they would not print a retraction. She had the nerve to say that they had "Reported both sides of the issue". I said the only side of the issue that should be reported is the truth and the truth lies within the NBC embed's report that when the 101st got to AL-Quaaca THERE WERE NO EXPLOSIVES. She claims that they had sources from Iraq that told them differently. I asked if she was at all concerned that they had allied themselves with 60 minutes in light of their forged document scandal and she said no. At that point I told her that you don't own the media anymore and that the truth will come out with or without your help.

What kool-aid drinking zombies these people are. They are willing to risk their entire reputation and livleyhoods on a false story to get a piece of trash like Kerry elected.

Just sent this to CBS New via their “contact us” function at their website (http://www.cbsnews.com/sections/home/main100.shtml)

Dan Rather needs to apologize to America, you need to run a retraction, and you need to take Rather off the air until he and his cohorts can be investigated either internally or legally.

Once again Dan Rather and CBS News is attempting to manipulate a false story to effect our nation’s elections.

The Iraqi explosives story you and the New York Times ran yesterday is a fraud. These weapons were not there when US troops went to this site in 2003. The IAEA and its head, the anti-American Mohammed El Baradei, leaked a false letter on this issue to the media to embarrass the Bush administration.

I’m going to ask the FCC to investigate your continue egregious actions and begin contacting all CBS News advertisers to express my deep concern.

The real October surprise for the American people is how the media is no longer showing any pretense of fairness.

Just called and sent this via email to the following addresses at the NYT:

The NY Times fraud article was reported and written by James Glanz, William J. Broad and David E. Sanger. Remember these names.

Liberal Logic - Courtesy of John Kerry (Pick One)

1. We would be better off if Saddam was still in power and had these explosives.
2. We should have destroyed every site with massive bombing while fighting the wrong war at the wrong time.
3. We should have had more troops to fight the wrong war at the wrong time.
4. I've called the US Military incompetent before, and I'll gladly do it again.
5. So what if the facts show the weapons weren't there the day after the US Military arrived?
6. Where ever the explosives went, you can be damn sure we aren't going after them without a global test.

I sent a letter to many of the CBS advertisers advising them that I am going to boycott their products over the concocted Bush documents. I feel that this idiotic "missing explosives" story is on a par with the "forged but true" documents. Is there any way to make our wrath felt? All I got for my letter writing campaign was some free coupons for the very products I am boycotting.

How about emailing William Safire about this? He could expose this nonsense.
