Media mogul Rupert Murdoch says his Fox News is not slanting their coverage to favor President Bush and the Republican Party.
Despite an avalache of liberal media critcism of the network, Murdoch told a gathering in Adelaide, Australia that his network has no political bias.
"We're not in the least bit biased, we're a fair and balanced company, our slogan is fair and balanced," Murdoch said at his News Corp annual general meeting.
Still, Murdoch pledged his company will continue to back Republican foreign policy.
Noting the liberal slant of most of the mainstream media in the U.S. Murdoch said Fox News is simply redressing the imbalance of coverage by other U.S. networks.
"It's full of Democrats and Republicans, the others only have Democrats," he said, speaking of Fox. "We don't take any position there at all. With our newspapers, we have indeed supported Bush's foreign policy and we remain that way."
Murdoch added that he had "no idea" what would happen to the U.S. economy if Kerry was elected.
"He says he has plans but he won't tell us what they are," Murdoch said.
Murdoch, who dropped his Australian citizenship to obtain a U.S. passport in 1985, said both candidates would be "prisoners of circumstances to other events."
He added, however that a Bush win would give a lift to the market and would mean continuing low interest rates and tax reduction.
Fox has too many Democrats these day if you ask me.
Lately, FoxNews is "all Kerry, all the time"
That's a load of crap! FOX is Clearly biased to the Right, and you know what . . . I LOVE IT!
It's the place I go when I want to come home after getting filthy watching CNN or MSNBC.
The closest thing to Media Salvation for the Right. (excluding Radio and Print media)
I believe Shep Smith is a Democrat as well as Greta van Sustern.
It's the only place, to get the *closest* thing to the truth. Here here FOX!!
No not Shep! I like Brit Humes, John Gibson and Hannity the best. They aren't biased in the least *snicker snicker*
Most of FNC viewers are conservatives so they would do well to remember that and pander a little more to us - hardly unfair when most of MSM is left slanted, and the only way to create "balance" in a media where 80% of journalist are left-wing is to give more favorable to our side. If FNC fails to do so, they will find many of their viewers leaving them and getting their news from internet and they will have to share their audience with MSNBC, CNN, CBS, ABC, and NBC. They would do well to remember who has made them number one (and it is not the left).
I am very fond of Brit myself.
But I believe I read a news story about a month ago that said that Shep was not a Republican. I'm not 100 per cent, certain, however.
When the news is not slanted left, it must be biased to the right.
If the news is honest and truthful, it must be biased to the right.
When the news is fair and balanced, it must be biased to the right.
When Democrats and Republicans are evenly represented, it must be biased to the right.
If it ain't liberal, it must be evil.
I don't mind it. Unlike the other networks, the Dems there don't try to disguise themselves as apolitical or middle of the road. The Republicans they have are not the caricatures you see on the other networks where they have one token Repubican on a panel of five or more DemocRATS. On the other networks, the "Republican" is there to provide straw man arguments for the DemocRAT panelists to knock down. I think the on air debates on Fox are more honest and free form, because they have a lot more diversity of opinion.
"Fox News is not like the other networks. They don't support me"
/Sarcasm off
Please FReepmail me if you want on or off my FoxFan list. *Warning: This can be a high-volume ping list at times.
I know O'Reilly is a registered independent and believe Shep is as well. Whorealdo and Greta are definitely dems and thought Linda Vester was as well (or certainly towed the line when on MSNBC) but seems to have come around to our side.
Thanks for the ping!
I believe there was an article posted on here last week about how much the employees of each network contributed to each party. Of course, the DemocRATS received the vast majority of contributions from the alphabet networks. What was very surprising to me was that even Fox News employees contributed more to DemocRATS than to Republicans.
For some reason I assumed Linda Vester is a Repub. I know she is married to the son of Baseball Hall of Famer Hank Greenberg.
In the last week or so, O'Reilly seems to be favoring Bush once more.
I agree that Vester seems to be a pubbie today, however I recall her during the impeachment days on MSNBC and she was anything but.
