Democrats Make 'Public' School Pupils Shill for Kerry
NewsMax.com ^ | 10/27/04 | Carl Limbacher

Latest reason why Johnny can't read: Instead of getting an education, children in Democrat-controlled Milwaukee's Democrat-controlled failed government school monopoly are being exploited to get out the vote for John Kerry.

The pro-Kerry educrats are allowing a left-wing outfit that calls itself Wisconsin Citizen Action Fund to pluck pupils from the classroom to go door to door in black neighborhoods favorable to Kerry and urge people to go to the polls.

"The students, ranging in age from 11 to 18, also use phone banks to call homes and urge people to vote," the Associated Press reported today.

The aptly named Larry Marx, co-executive director of Wisconsin Citizen Action, denied partisanship ... even though the outfit openly supports Kerry.

Chris Lato, spokesman for the state Republican Party, noted the scheme was "a disgraceful use of taxpayer money."

"To spend this time on a clearly partisan effort when these kids should be in school learning is shocking," Lato pointed out.

No wonder Kerry now opposes the reforms of No Child Left Behind: He'd leave no child behind for his own exploitation in his relentless do-anything quest for power.

Get rid of the NEA at the same time we rid ourselves of the UN.

Sending elementary school kids on a door-to-door canvass? Hope Wisconsin Citizen Action Fund (whoever they may be) has a good liability lawyer.

The far-left libs will stop at nothing, will say and do anything, to regain power and control. The schools no longer teach, they indocrtrinate...this disgusting use of the naive minds of kids, is yet another gutter-level tactic of the left.

If I had to raise my kids again, they would never SEE a government school -- ever.

The state should close the doors of these schools. We're paying some of the highest property taxes in the country so these "I'll put you on the gov't dole" democrats can use the public education system for political gain? When are people going to get fed up with this waste.

Aaargh...
isn't this forbidden by some law? I don't wanna boast, but here in Europe this couldn't happen. To use (abuse) children not allowed to vote themselves for such a very subjective purpose, that is purely criminal. It reeks of the indoctrination in use in the USSR and the former DDR. This gives the US an undeserved bad name.
Cheers anyway, flaggie.

=====
The NEA is as guilty of "thuggery" as every other stinking union in this country. It is, and has been, just another arm of the socialist left and it has no place in the lives of our kids.

Charlie Sykes, our local conservative host is going bullistic about this story. Many Wisconsinites are calling in just disgusted. In fact, they continue the story on page 17 and after claiming to be non-partison, post a full page ad on page 18 bashing Bush. Take heart FR, Wisconsin loves the president, just a lot of hardcore liberal media downtown!

Same in DC, almost 20% of all students now go to private or charter schools. The number is only limited because the government refuses to raise the cap. This is a great issue, I don't see why Republicans don't use it. Especially in the AFrican American communities. Republicans, once again, represent minorities better than the Democrats that get their votes...

In my town in Mass., the public schools are going to be closed on Tuesday Nov 2. For a "curriculum day".

Normally, a curriculum day is on a Weds, and calls for a half-day. I've never seen this happen on a Tuesday before. I guess the teachers will be working hard on their curriculums all day.

Either that or going door-to-door for Kerry (probably in Southern NH).

I was wondering -
are there any reports about children who, having developed a political instinct at a relatively early age, simply refused to be used as a puppet on a string? And were they in any way coerced or punished? Or did the 'Rats give the children some kind of desirable reward (a bribe) beforehand? I am curious...
flaggie.
