THOMASTON (Oct 26, 2004): A Kerry supporter from Monmouth was issued a summons for receiving stolen property after Thomaston police found 14 stolen Bush-Cheney signs on the back of his van.
Officer David Johnson observed 32-year-old Joel Hokkanen's van turn onto Old County Road, pull onto the shoulder and turn off its lights just before midnight on Thursday.
Johnson followed the van down Old County Road after noticing that Hokkanen's inspection sticker had expired in August.
Johnson pulled the van over at the corner of Dexter and Old County roads and noticed that while Hokkanen was sporting a Kerry pin on his hat and a sticker on the back of his van, there was a pile of Bush-Cheney signs loaded in the back of the van.
Johnson asked Hokkanen if it was safe to assume the Bush-Cheney signs were stolen and Hokkanen admitted the signs were stolen from Rockland, Rockport, Thomaston and Cushing.
In addition to being summoned for receiving stolen property, Hokkanen was also issued a summons for failing to register his vehicle.
In a separate incident that Thomaston police are not linking to Thursday's event, 11 Bush-Cheney signs were found in a ditch at the end of Sunrise Terrace, near Wadsworth Street on Sunday afternoon.
On Saturday, the day before the 11 signs were found, police received a call reporting that a compact maroon hatchback full of Bush-Cheney signs was seen on Wadsworth Street.
Chief Kevin Haj said there have been no charges in connection with that incident.
So was he a union thug, a hostile gay hater of GW or just the average lunatic lib filled with hate?
When can we expect John Kerry to condemn this vile assault on the First Amendment?!

In fact, he wrote his Honor’s thesis at Connecticut College on “The Ecology of Loons in Winter.”
They should make these idiots pay each person for the sum total of all the signs they stole (they aren't free, ours was $25 I think?). Better yet, make them donate the money to the RNC. :)
I guess I need to add another category to cover real loons, like Watermelon Jihadists Who Hate GW.

Huh? Why not? Sounds to me like a green light for Bush-Cheney supporters to go around taking Kerry-Edwards signs.
Just as an aside, I live around the corner from Stephen King. He has this 5' x 5' Kerry/Edwards sign in front of his house. What a moron.
That should constitute probable cause for arrest by itself. :-p

Political signs are expensive. The Bush/Cheney Campaign needs to DEMAND an apology and reimbursement from the "Flush the Johns" Campaign.
No. He belongs to the national "GOONS FOR KERRY" group. You know, the ones who are taking all the "W" lawn signs, breaking into, trashing, and storming all the Republican offices throughout the country.
Maybe he is a member of the National Looney Goons for Kerry?
So now I know who has been stealing our signs, this guy lives not to far from my house. He must have to pass my house to get to lewiston from his house. I have lost atleast 8 signs in the past 2 weeks.
