An illegal immigrant from Honduras was convicted in a series of rapes near Rutgers University that struck fear into the campus and surrounding neighborhood for more than two years.
A Superior Court jury in Middlesex County convicted Ricardo Cepates on Tuesday of all but one of 27 counts of kidnapping, raping, and sometimes robbing his victims.
The trial included three days of testimony in which laboratory experts said genetic testing conclusively proved that Cepates raped four women and a teenage girl between September 2001 and June 2003.
.He still faces trial on charges of attacking four other women, one of whom was raped in her home.
Cepates faces life in prison without parole when he is sentenced in February by Superior Court Judge Frederick DeVesa. His lawyer, Christian Fleming, said he was "obviously disappointed with the jury's verdict and will be looking into filing an appeal."
During the trial, each of the victims recounted the attacks in which they were grabbed and threatened with a knife, or in one case, a broken beer bottle, as they walked in the evening or early morning hours.
One of the Rutgers students said she was savagely beaten, sustaining a broken jaw and cheekbone.
"I was terrified," the woman told the jury last week. "I thought I was going to die."

I'm in grad school at Rutgers and live just down the street from the neighborhood that this predator terrorized. Needless to say, I'm very glad he's been convicted. One thing the article didn't mention is that most of his victims were from the immigrant community. Unfortunately that's how most of the crime in New Brunswick is - black on black or latino on latino. Or PO'd off drug dealer on stupid white cokehead undergrads.

In our area we have have horrendous cases of murder, rape, and pedophilia committed by illegal aliens. The gangs, made up mainly of illegal aliens and legal immigrants have been terrorizing citizens, one of the goals of the largest gang is to kill cops.

Another win for stupid NJ not allowing honest citizens to have a 'permit to carry' firearms---I moved out after 49 yrs because only the criminals are armed in NJ while decent law abiding folks have to sign their life away to own a gun while the illegal trash runs wild---I pray constantly for my kids and grandkids in that state--at least one of my grandkids is a trooper and has protection---stinking "demonrat" politicos
