Pre-war Satellite Pics Show Truck Activity at Al Qaqaa
NewsMax.com, Fox ^ | Oct. 28, 2004 | Carl Limbacher

The Pentagon is examining evidence that could further discredit a report by the New York Times that hundreds of tons of high explosives were looted by terrorists from a major Iraqi weapons facility after the U.S. invaded in March 2003.

"Senior Pentagon officials say they are analyzing some satellite images from the Al Qaqaa facility south of Baghdad from before the war," the Fox News Channel's Bret Baier reported late Wednesday.

"Apparently, they show some large truck activity at that facility, [indicating] possibly that Saddam Hussein was moving the explosives out," Baier told Fox News host Greta Van Susteren.

Photos showing a pre-war truck convoy at Al Qaqaa would comport, Baier said, with a January 2003 report by the UN's International Atomic Energy Agency revealing that 158 tons of the high explosive RDX had already gone missing from the site.

Experts say that to remove the 380 tons of high explosives reported missing from Al Qaqaa by the New York Times, it would take at least 40 trucks with a ten-ton capacity.

On Wednesday Iraq war veteran Ken Dixon, who was with the 101st Airborne division when it reached Al Qaqaa on April 10, said he noticed tracks from heavy truck tires outside the three bunkers he inspected.

The MSM refers to the seals as if they are fool proof. The whole thing is a joke.

Iraq was awash not in hundreds of tons of High Explosive but in thousands of tons of High Explosive. The question the media fails to ask is why is this explosive so important as compared to the thousands of tons of other explosives. This explosive RDX in the form it was stored is not a particularly good to make bombs with as it will require modification and most importantly fusing. Fusing is the reason artillery shells are the bomb of choice for the terrorist in Iraq. The fuses in the shells make them very easily to wire and explode.

Why would Saddam want to move the RDX? The answer is very simple. RDX is one of the types of explosives that can be used in making an atomic weapon of the implosion design.

Yes the RDX was there.
Yes it was removed before our troops got there.
Yes it was important to weapons systems of Mass Destruction.
I am sure ABC NBC CBS will pick up on this immediately, and also speculate as to where in the hell it went to and why."SARCASM" Repeat after me mainstream media, "ACTIVE PROGRAM PURSING THE DEVELOPEMENT OF WEAPONS OF MASS DESTRUCTION."

I got a pocket sized multi-purpose tool that could probably cut those seals. It's called a Leatherman. I agree, the whole thing is an absolute joke.

...doesn't take much more than simple division skills to be an "expert" any more, does it?

LOL. I like Newsmax's politics, but sometimes their writing skill needs a little polish.

I'm listening to Garrison talk about how this story hasn't been helping the Dems as much as they wanted it to. But they are assured that the Dems have anyone big hit piece up their sleeve. Speculating that Tom Delay will be indicted. Has anybody heard anything else?

Yep! In fact, I think this story could backfire and get back to the issue so many of us talked about over a year ago: That Saddam not only moved these explosives out before the war...but also his WMDs. It's amazing to listen to the media's sudden concern for these missing explosives, when they had no such concerns when other people were making these same claims over a year ago.

Hell, these people ignored UNMOVIC's report earlier this year...and Paul Martin's speech (from Canada), about how Saddam's weapons were taken out before the war and were even being found as far north as the Netherlands. Only now...a week before the election, does the media begin to take an interest in this story. And they can't even get the details right.

A while back I was watching a show on the History Channel on the Bible Code...very interesting stuff. The guy who broke one of the codes claimed that the code he read indicated that their would be WMD found in Syria in 2005 which came from Iraq. It would be found due to a war between Syria and another country.
Freaky stuff

"Seals are not Fort Knox."

I am fully aware of that.

The way I understood the news report was that if the IAEA saw the seals still intack on such and such a date really means nothing because there were other passages they could have been taken out of.

Just reporting what I heard on the news.

Thanks for the info on KSTP TV! It is nice to know ahead of time where that piece of 'news' came from, if it surfaces in the MSM. I used to get that channel on our cable out here in the boonies, but it was replaced by Fox News Channel a number of years ago..thankfully!!
