The Pentagon is examining evidence that could further discredit a report by the New York Times that hundreds of tons of high explosives were looted by terrorists from a major Iraqi weapons facility after the U.S. invaded in March 2003.
"Senior Pentagon officials say they are analyzing some satellite images from the Al Qaqaa facility south of Baghdad from before the war," the Fox News Channel's Bret Baier reported late Wednesday.
"Apparently, they show some large truck activity at that facility, [indicating] possibly that Saddam Hussein was moving the explosives out," Baier told Fox News host Greta Van Susteren.
Photos showing a pre-war truck convoy at Al Qaqaa would comport, Baier said, with a January 2003 report by the UN's International Atomic Energy Agency revealing that 158 tons of the high explosive RDX had already gone missing from the site.
Experts say that to remove the 380 tons of high explosives reported missing from Al Qaqaa by the New York Times, it would take at least 40 trucks with a ten-ton capacity.
On Wednesday Iraq war veteran Ken Dixon, who was with the 101st Airborne division when it reached Al Qaqaa on April 10, said he noticed tracks from heavy truck tires outside the three bunkers he inspected.
Anything further from Bret today?
I saw this crap on DU... It is not the explosives that the UN is talking about not the 370 tons... Our military is much more competent than John Kerry is giving them credit for. The bottom line is the weapons were moved before we got there and Kerry is isolating the military with this. If he wants to criticize someone he needs to start criticizing the UN. Kerry is the most dangerous man in America right now he is starting his 1971 rhetoric again and we should be expecting the anarchists to rise up and start spitting on our troops and calling them baby killers and Bush Puppets.. How ignorant can these liberals be.
Bottom line we did not go to war fast enough.... What does John Kerry say to that?
It's sick that our people have to spend half of their valuable time refuting lies put out by Kerry and Friends instead of fighting the war on terror, and I wish Bush and Cheney would point that out.
IAEA inspectors check a seal on a bunker with high explosives.
Yep, my 8 y.o. pocket knife could bust that, lol.
True.
I still say that if Bush or Cheney had claimed on Sunday that there were tons and tons of NUCLEAR TRIGGERS monitored by the IAEA which disappeared just before the invasion, the left would have screamed "more WMD lies! October Surprise! dirty politics!"
But the NYT and Kerry stepped in it, big time, by publicizing the story and then having THE TRUTH turn around and bite them!!!
Tinfoil hat time: Maybe there IS something to the idea that the Clintons are trying to wreck the Kerry campaign. Did the story come from one of the many clinton people advising Kerry's campaign? LOL!
Or maybe the left is just so desperate and stupid.
link won't boot.
Seals, IAEA Seals, are like any other seal. It's not to keep people out, it's to indicate tampering, evidence of entry, etc.
The seals were not used to keep Saddam out, they were used to indicate he went in.
So what's everyone saying about that? Seals - broken or not when our military got there?
IMHO, from what I've heard and read, they didn't find any seals on the bunkers. They saw locks and wires, but no seals.
Only the UN would lock the front door and leave the windows open and consider it a job well done.
Peektures? I don' got to show you no steenking peektures!
Take your time, guys. We have a few days left.
Great link evets!!
Thanks
You listen to Garrison too huh? I heard this as well, but the DeLay thing has been going on for some time. Surely they wouldn't indict him right the election, but then again looked at what happened to Weinberger.
I like Garrison's show a lot. Can you fill me in on the Tom Delay thing. Mutitasking has its downside--I miss things.
Not to mention that they could just take the explosives AND the seals and nobody would know that something under seal was taken.
I was kind of hoping someone else here could help fill in the blanks.
Ping me if you figure it out. I'll ping you if I figure it out. :^)
