NOT 1 COMBAT SOLDIER WENT TO BATTLE WITHOUT BODY ARMOR!
Soldiers that were in non-combat roles didn't have the body armor to start with, but they have it now. And, they have it now because 1) the 87 billion appropriation (which Kerry voted against) and 2) the ramping up of production and distribution to all soldiers in the field (including those in "non combat" roles).
This is a story with less then a germ of truth. SeeBS selling it out for Kerry...AGAIN.
Yes, just like the expose they did on the Audi 5000. Ed Bradley did that hatchet job too. Turns out they were wrong. There was nothing wrong with the transmission of the car, the drivers were stepping on the gas pedal instead of the brake. Meanwhile, Ed Bradley monkeyed with the transmission (pumped in hundreds of pounds of air pressure) to get it to slip. Just like Michelle Gillen did with the side gas tanks of the GM truck. She got demoted, nothing happened to Bradley. I wonder how many jobs were lost at Audi (it almost bankrupted the company) due to Bradley's incompetence.
As you say, back in the days of Emmett Till, every white man in the south was a DEMOCRAT, and these Democrats kept most blacks from voting.
FDR and HST went along with this arrangement, because it gave them the coalition they needed to win the necessary electoral votes.
But somehow or other the death of Emmett Till is all Bush's fault, because Republicans are racists by definition. The Democrats say so; it must be true.
WHY NOW?
The only really good report I have seen on the Emmitt Till case was on the "Eyes on the Prize" documentary series from the 1980s.
Nothing else I have seen about the case even comes close.
About "Troops Buying Body Armor":
Most of you who went through the Army in yesteryear ber getting your equipment "issued" to you in gig supply barns. It doesn't happen that way in the Volunteer Army of roday.
Individual troops are paid and annual Uniform and personal equipment allowance. (I think $1,500 a year). You are expected to maintain YOUR OWN personal uniform and equipment from this allowance. Some less responsible folks have, instead, used the money for extra beer instead, meaning that when they got the call, their equipment was not all there. That's when they call mama and say "They're making me buy body armor, can you send me some money?" And the family gets upset and it gets on the StupidEveningNews (aka CBS), and the Democrats laugh up their stinky sleeves.
Matthew Shepard's death was similar. Stinking drunk and obnoxious, he repeatedly agitated a drunken cowboy who was hitting on a girl in a C&W bar until he got the ass-kicking everyone in the bar knew was coming. They just didn't expect he'd get killed for it.
Killing him wasn't right nor was his earlier behavior.
Good post, bourbon.
I was unable to watch the agenda sham.
Didn't have a TV til Monday. :)
ping
sorry about that. I'll get it right next time. thanks.
Looks like I didn't miss another revisionist history lesson from the bastion of yellow journalism. I wonder if they have a clue what fools they are making of themselves...yeah...stupid question.
Emmit Till was not a "man" and he didn't just "get his ass kicked"
He was a brutally murdered 14 year old boy.
You don't get to excerpt my post and pretend that's all I wrote.
Precisely. As I have said repatedly on other threads about this killing, no one deserves to die or to suffer grave bodily harm over a breach of etiquette. Battery and murder (especially of a child) is not the correct response to such behavior. It disturbs me that this simple moral proposition is not immediately obvious to all Freepers.
I'd also submit that I don't know many 14-year old boys who aren't "dumb-a$$es." I certainly was one when I was 14, as were all my friends.
Any good camper knows you can restart the campfire by kicking the unburnt ends in the ash.
