I wonder if it is possible to find out of Kerry ever claimed to have an Honorable Discharge before 2001 Great point. Is this the sort of thing one would find using the Lexis/Nexis search? I do not have access to it but hear people refer to it when looking for congressional speeches and things people have said in the past.

Has anyone ever seen Kerry's DD214. Shouldn't it be on that?
I imagine if he did actually have an "Honorable" discharge it would be plastered all over his site...after all, he's John Kerry and he's reporting for duty...

General isn't really that bad. You can get a general if you're in for 2 months and break a leg and get medically kicked out before finishing boot/basic.

I read my honorable discharge DD214 and there are some 2 character terms on the bottom. What are those codes?

It's not on his DD214. The rules changed in 1970.

How can a man run for the Office of the President when there may be even the slightest chance of duplicity with the enemy? How can a man run for the Office of the Presidency if there is even the slightest chance he conspired with the enemy and was served a dishonorable, less than honorable, or even other than honorable discharge? We know he did the crime, collaborate with the enemy (it's a crime for civilians as well). What difference does it make if he "did the time", that is got other than an Honorable discharge from the reserves? He is a know traitor and people who vote for a traitor will deserve what they get. The rest of us would have to suffer along with them of course.

OK. I'm a little late to the party.
I've read the posts thus far.
Some I agree with, some I don't.
Most don't matter.
We are exactly 1 (one) business day away from the most important election in your (& my) life.
I could ask what you're doing, but instead will offer my plan.
I spent the afternoon and early evening in the liberal trenches spreading and emphasizing the misery quotient.
I look like an aging hippie (long haired, John Lennon glasses). You know the type. As such, it is easy for me to mingle with the masses of the great unwashed.
So I've been going into the "Lion's den" (more like his toilet) and making comments to the extent that "Listen to the polls, man. Bush is on the march! We're doomed! It's all over!"
Some argue, but (mostly) they lose heart in a hurry (definition of a sunshine superman).
I found out a long time ago that I couldn't argue them to a reasonable conclusion (something about teaching a pig to wear a hat), so I embarked an a different tack.
Why not discourage from within?
I don't know if it will make any difference or not. But it is more fun than obsessing about this thing (and you should see the looks on their faces ;'}
Vote as is your life depended on it!

This is amazing. My husband has been saying for years America was not losing the Viet Nam war. That it became a politician's war eventually leading to the public demanding it be ended. It's much much more. These haters of America should have been dealt with and not protected all of these years. I believe they eventually will be.

First; Good job.
Second; I believe the quote is "Never try and teach a pig to sing....it wastes your time and annoys the pig"
Third; the question of his discharge goes right to the heart of his character. True, most don't expect much of politicians, and his 19 yrs in the Senate far outweigh his 4 months in the Navy. But that discharge is an assessment his country made upon him, and he can not escape it.
And it matters to me.
To: tazannie
I'd posted before that I'd found on Kerry's own website three different dates for Kerry's discharge. SEPROS from ,active duty 3 Jan 1970; Discharge (?), 16 Feb 1978; Discharge (?), 13 July 1978; Discharge (?), 12 March 2001. Kerry's website produced all these discharges as honorable.

John Kerry and the VVAW conducted their operations in concert with the North Vietnamese. If you visit the Texas Tech Vietnam archive you can find the docs- or just follow them in the Chief's interview.
It is astonishing.
This is why he would not sign the DOD 180 Form.
