thank you...people all over America are praying for Pres Bush
today.
Today, As I give my morning message we will be praying for President Bush. The church is about 70/30 for President Bush. I must be careful not to push the President. Many of the Democrats are voting for the President because of his Faith.

Look how Bush got into the White House in 2000...think about all the events and how they fell into place...
Proverbs 6:16-19 - 16 There are six things the LORD hates,
seven that are detestable to him:
17 haughty eyes,
a lying tongue,
hands that shed innocent blood,
18 a heart that devises wicked schemes,
feet that are quick to rush into evil,
19 a false witness who pours out lies
and a man who stirs up dissension among brothers.
May God lead our great President and Vice President in a mighty way in these next two days. I have been praying at intervals, and will continue to do so until President Bush, a man of faith and integrity, is re-elected.

Thank You that he need not fear when evil rises up against him and appears to prosper, for we know that evil does not have the final word, Lord. That final word is Yours alone. Help him to be holy, just as You are holy. Shine forth Your light through President Bush, Gracious Lord, and let him be a messenger of Your peace in all that he does. Help him to fight the good fight of faith each day, and let him emerge victorious through Christ Jesus in whom the victory has already been won. Father, help us to stand strong in Your might as a group of prayer warriors. Thwart the enemy’s efforts to keep us from prayer, and help us to continue to intercede for America and for President Bush. Take care of us, Great God, for we are Your people and the sheep of Your pasture. Pass us not, O Gentle Saviour. Hear our humble prayers in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.

in these last few days before the election,
help us to remember who it is
who holds the universe in his hands,
and who it is who suffered and died
to save a lost and aching mankind,
and in knowing that,
we know that you care deeply
for we your children.
We ask you then
to watch over our country
as the hands of those who would attack us
are raised in threat.
Watch over our country
as those who are so focused on power
and winning
would destroy even the thing
they think they most want.
O Lord,
be with those
who fight for the culture of life,
the sanctity of marriage,
the gift of family
and bravely are willing to
stand up to those
who have embraced the culture of death.
May those who stand
be the arrows in your hand
to spread out your word,
the tools you use
to lead others to the light.
Especially today,
watch over George Bush
and his election campaign,
and his campaign workers,
and his administrative advisors,
that as he tries to do your work,
you will cover him in the precious blood of Jesus,
and keep him safe from the enemy
and bless whatever tasks he has at hand
as long as he works
for your cause
and in your way,
and bring him home safe at last
when his tasks on earth are done.

Thanks for the ping. I wonder if anyone's familiar with the booklet distribubted by the Leadership Institute, "Pray for Our Nation: Scriptural Prayers to Revive Our Country."
There were available at church this morning and I picked up a copy. Glancing through it this evening, I find prayers addressing all aspects of Christian citizenship.
O Lord, on a Sunday evening, long ago,
a small group people gathered together
in their anxiety,
not really sure what was happening,
beset with mysteries
and stories they didn't know fully
how to believe or digest,
and into that small circle
you came,
unexpectedly
to share your good news of the resurrection.
O Lord,
you understand our frailty,
our anxiety,
our longing for your light
our willingness to be tools,
no matter how weak, or frail or clumsy,
and come into our heart,
enkindling that strength
that can only come from you,
help those of us
who are working for this election
to do the things you would have us do,
protect all of us
from the attacks of the darkness,
and guard our president,
his family,
our nation
from the hands of the wicked,
and if it is your will, Lord,
bring us safely to the victory.
Amen.
