Karl Rove, the president's top political adviser called the race for Bush. "We're ahead," he told reporters in Cincinnati, Ohio, the last campaign stop Sunday. "We will win Florida and Ohio. We will take at least two or three or four states that were won by (Democrat Al) Gore in the last election."

Pray it's true.

Now if Karl Rove didn't say this he should not be hanging around the Bush campaign. He should team up with Kerry.

I hate to say this, but I remember Rove and Co being this upbeat 4 years ago, too, and we barely won. I hope they learned something in the last 4 years and aren't making the same overconfident predictions of 2000.

Wild guess would be Wisconsin and Iowa. Minnesota and MAYBE Michigan and New Jersey would sure be nice.

If Bush takes Pennsylvania, I will open the champagne. Or maybe I will have to wait for Ohio. I assume Bush will win Florida. bush can win without Ohio, but that would be cutting it very close.

I agree- not that it matters much now, but why would he want to look so ridiculous on camera?- Karen Hughes doesn't look much better though. Landslide isn't a word I'd use at all for this election, but I think our leader knows what he's doing and will therefore, not be on losing end come tommorrow.

Rove had egg on his face in 2000 and I don't think he would say something that will not come to pass this time around. Rove anc company would definitely not be wearing this garb if they didn't think they were going to win.

Bush will sprint all the way to the finish line and this race will be over early Tuesday night.

There is a way we can know by Tuesday afternoon who has won.

Just watch Chris Matthews, Judy Woodruff, Keith Olberman and Ron Reagan. I know the last one is particularly hard but trust me. If, at 2:00pm or so, these folks look like their cats just died, you can bet that they see a Bush victory in early exit polling.

If you want to wait until the polls close, watch NJ. If NJ goes Bush, it's over. If not NJ, then if PA goes Bush, it's over.

Losers talk about how they aren't sure, what contests we might lose, etc.

Winners talk about and are confident of winning big.

We won by a hair when Rove et al predicted a much wider margin. This country can't afford another protracted post-election battle through the courts. We have a war going on.

But really, Rove isn't the only one saying Florida and Ohio will be red, and if that happens, it would be very likely that Bush-Cheney would top the 290 mark, and we would know that by midnight, even though Kerry might delay concession until Wednesday. 290 or more would effectively preclude the 2000 scenario of delayed concession past Thanksgiving.

There is a way we can know by Tuesday afternoon who has won.

I'm going to be listening to Rush Limbaugh. In 2000, he was generally upbeat until the third hour of the program, when his mood inexplicably turned dark and hesitant. We later learned that he had received the results of exit polling that showed Gore slightly ahead. This year, I pray he's whooping it up in the 2 o'clock (ET) hour!
