Conservative Warns Same-Sex Marriage Could Prime Public Schools for Homosexual Agenda

conservative group is warning Oregon voters that if they fail to pass a constitutional amendment banning same-sex marriage, the resulting fallout in public schools could be devastating.

Oregon is one of eleven states voting Tuesday on constitutional amendments to protect traditional marriage. In hopes of avoiding a complete shutout, homosexual activists and their supporters have targeted Oregon as the state where they are most likely to defeat the amendment.

The Portland-based Defense of Marriage Coalition and other pro-family groups are urging Oregonians to support Measure 36 when they head to the polls tomorrow. The measure, stated below, defines marriage specifically as being only between a man and a woman.

"The Constitution of the State is amended as follows: It is the Policy of Oregon, and its political subdivisions, that only a marriage between one man and one woman shall be valid or legally recognized as a marriage."

Coalition executive director Mike White is warning pro-family Oregonians that if homosexual activists are willing to sue to overturn Oregon's constitution and 200 laws protecting traditional marriage, they will not stop there. He says if that happens and public policy in the state allows homosexual couples to marry, "it's not going to be long before they go to court and insist that public schools teach same-sex relationships as equal to heterosexual relationships."

White notes that something similar has already begun in Massachusetts schools. There, he notes, some junior high teachers that have been emboldened by the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court's legalization of same-sex marriage have begun using charts and graphs in the classroom to discuss homosexual sex.

The Defense of Marriage Coalition spokesman believes promotion of homosexuality in Oregon's public school classrooms is sure to intensify if the people do not pass the ballot measure affirming traditional marriage tomorrow. He says many conservative teachers and administrators are concerned that a new interpretation of marriage in the state could pave the way for explicit teaching of homosexuality in schools.

"One of the largest groups of supporters that we had -- speaking on our behalf, being in our commercials, and signing our petitions and circulating them -- was educators," White says. "We have a tremendous number of educators who are very concerned that the next step is to use the classrooms as not just a place for education, but for actual indoctrination in a lifestyle that a lot of people just aren't comfortable with."

White adds that Oregon's homosexual community has spent millions of out-of-state dollars from pro-homosexual marriage contributors targeting the state as their best chance for a victory. One mid-October poll indicated voters favor the measure, with 57 percent in favor, 36 percent opposed, and the rest undecided.

... could pave the way for explicit teaching of homosexuality in schools.

Unless they're way behind the rest of the U.S., they've already got it.

This seems inevitable, no matter who wins the election. It would accelerate greatly if Kerry wins, however. There is no political will to take on those who push this stuff.

We'll win all these referenda on gay "marriage" by a wide margin. But those won't mean a thing if Kerry wins tomorrow. I expect one of his first acts as president would be to replace retiring justice William Rehnquist with a Margaret Marshall clone. How tragic it would be if the voters of Ohio & Michigan vote overwhelmingly against gay "marriage" and also give their states, and the presidency, to the man who will use his power to force gay "marriage" on our country.

Follow the tumbling dominoes. If Gay marriage is allowed, public schools will NEVER be able to depict, instruct or promote the traditional standard of marriage being between a man and a woman again. ANY inference of "man and wife" would bring a cacophony of ACLU lawyers down on the school district before you can snap your fingers. The result would be future generations being indoctrinated into the belief that the GENDER of their chosen mate is OF NO CONSEQUENCE.

Harmless?

They are already here in CA! My son's 8th grade history class is doing a unit on GBLTG and the Civil Rights movement. Outrageous! Wish we had school vouchers!

Public schools are already teaching children homosexuals are "normal."
Has everyone noticed the huge increase in home schooling lately? Parents are protecting their kids from the schools the best way they can.
This is why school choice is so important. Parents should be able to use their own tax money to pay for their kids education - not their liberal indoctrination.

In MA, the local high school posted that it was "National Coming Out Day" last week. Widely ignored by the students, but nonetheless...

If this ballot measure passes in atheist Oregon, it will be a true miracle.

I've always wondered if these principals and teachers have some type of morals clause in their contracts that would leave an opening for parents to take action against them. With all these teachers being fired or jailed for pedophilia, I bet the basis for termination is violation of the contract.

When it comes to school, there's no place like home.

I know it sounds somewehat glib, but it's true.

Make the sacrifices necessary to take your children out of the Tax-funded, Union-run Socialist-indoctrination Day-camps and educate them yourself.

Nobody can love them like you do, nobody can impart knowledge to them better than you can, and only you can properly communicate your worldview to them.

And your one or two hours a night (at BEST) can't compete with the 8 or more hours a day your children spend in the Pagan State Church eupehmistically called "Public Schools".

Who knows? All I can say that it's an up-hill battle. Back to school (screwel) night is always so depressing -- they don't even try to hide their liberal agenda in public school. They assume we all think that way... Private school (been there) is just as bad -- full of wealthy liberals, in our case all children of Hollywood industry liberals...

I know the feeling......I pulled my kids out of an alleged Christian school a few years back because they were totally out to lunch on a lot of their policies plus the board was full of some of the biggest slimeballs in town.

The perverted homosexual agenda has been pushed in Oregon for over a decade that I know of.

The Homosexual Agenda is just the battering ram being bashed through the courts and institutions to usher in the Sex Positive Agenda.

This hedonist agenda urges sex at every age/abstinence is "unhealthy" because it denies sexual desires. It is quite easy to see why the sex positives would promote homosexuality.

It has infected some school districts and many public institutions.

http://www.allaboutsex.org has surrendered this evil fight due to some political pressure but they still offer links on their site to others waging this battle of the culture war.

You can 'opt out' of this portion of your child's schooling. If the school fails to allow you to do so please contact me at I will put you in touch with the attorneys who will enforce your rights at no cost to you.

It's amazing that such a thing is happening. I went to public high school in the early 1980's (maybe that makes me old--arghhhhhh!!!!!!!) There was a brief sex ed class for seniors, and while it didn't promote abstinance, it never advocated sexual activity. Homosexuality was never even spoken of. And now this. What next, taking kids to gay bars?

Can't you elect a new school board?
