ABC Just played a small segment on the Redskins curse, if the Redskins lose their final home game the incubent loses.
They closed the segment with a photo of John Kerry and Greenbay's Donald Driver say congratulations John Kerry.
That's felt so odd, like when they called the election for Gore.
Sorry I am just very nervous and will hang on to anything.
GO B/C 04!
1996!
This whole furor just goes to show how mystical and irrational the left is...
They forgot to say that Green Bay QB Brett Favre says "GO BUSH"..
I have Donald Driver on my fantasy football team.
The bastard cost me a win yesterday.
Let me paraphrase Laura Ingraham...
Shut up and play!
Look I recall in 2000 many skins fans were happy that Bush was elected because it meant the super bowl would soon be theirs. Because tradition held that Redskins did better under republican presidents. That had done well under Nixon, but bombed under Carter, the Reagan, Bush era was full of playoffs and superbowls for the Skins, but once Clinton came into office the team sank like a rock. Well guess what four years into W's term, and many free agents the skins still suck. I prefer sound science for my political predictions, like halloween mask sales, that means Bush wins
Don't worry, after tomorrow Kerry, Lockheart and that whole mangy bunch will all be on an extended drunk.
Clinton 1, Redskins 0
On Tuesday we discussed the "Redskins rule," according to which if the Washington NFL team wins its last game before a presidential election, the incumbent party prevails; otherwise, it goes down to defeat. "As in sports," we noted, quoting an earlier article of ours, "streaks and slumps in politics go on only until they end."
Well, it turns out this particular streak already ended, eight years ago. According to blogger Justin Taylor, on whose posting we relied, the Redskins beat the Indianapolis Colts in 1996's last pre-election game, and the incumbent, Bill Clinton, was re-elected.
It's true of course that Clinton won, and the Redskins did beat the Colts, 31-16--but that game took place Oct. 27, eight years ago yesterday. On Nov. 3, the 7-1 Skins lost to the 5-3 Buffalo Bills, 38-13--and the incumbent president won two days later.
Actually, the jinx applies to the party that won the popular vote in the last election.
In this case, it would be the Democrats.
Curse of the Bambino broken after 86 years.
Next, the Redskins curse.
Does this count as a campaign commercial for Kerrey? Its hard to believe that any republican would do an interview with anybody on ABC, CBS or NBC during a campaign season considering what they do with the footage.
Didn't we all.
I think everyone already shot the story down, it's last home game, I think.
Let not your heart be troubled...don't be distracted by a football game....keep your mind on the Horserace.
That has been withdrawn. It is Washington games at home. But..... didn't home change for the Redskins?
Oh man, I hate it when facts get in the way of a liberal fantasy.
A Bart Starr recording is calling voters in WI telling them not to worry that Bush will win and to screw that tradition.
I guess great Packer QB's support Bush.
The Redskins were robbed of a win, the officials called an obscure violation after they got a touchdown, where they would have won the game. The officials in-effect called for a recall vote, they took away points. It was very tacky, and I don't know if it could have been challenged. Illegal motion, when there was no off-sides infraction? The replay could not be shown, it was too far to the right too be seen?
Yeah, but the Steelers beat the NE Patriots yesterday, breaking their win streak. So there. The good luck mojo of the Pats is gone...bad karma for Bostonians.
Yeah,...poor me,poor me,pour me another one
