Talked to my mom in OHio before I read your earlier post. There is a record number of people out in my own hometown and county. People are angry about the same sex marriage amendment.
She said "Watch for the rise of the Evangelical Christians" in America tonight.
I voted at 3:30 at precinct 105 in Richmond and there were about 8 people there voting. Light. But I was the 657th vote from my A-K sign up table. That would be over 1300 for both tables and that strikes me as high because many people vote after work in this heavy GOP precinct.
I'm in suburban Ricmond (western Henrico Co.). Our precinct has about 4500 and at 10:30 am I was 1338. It was family day. Moms and Dads had brought their entire families to vote, making it a tradition that will be passed down from generation to generation. The school closures actually allow more participation in the political process than if they were open.
I truly believe they will be a MAJOR factor in the election. This is a great night for America, my brother.

Oops sorry!! I am only planning to work a few hours. I part time clean at a Christian high school. I think I can do what I need to do by 7:30 and make up the rest tomorrow.
In Burke VA stood in line for 1.5 hours (first time ever encountering a line). Very orderly process--no disenfranchisement other than the first of the alphabet had a long line; the back end of the alphabet will have a line tonight (they said). I was number 319.
I had the opposite. The line for a-j was very quick, and the rest was very long. Luckily, I was in the short line.
Just voted in Loudoun County. Waited in line about 15-20 minutes. My vote was number 3,596. I overheard a poll worker state that my polling place was already at 65% turn out with 3 hours to go. He also said that it looked like Loudoun County would hit 75% as a whole. Naturally I voted for George W. Bush.

Northern Leesburg poll was very busy. I arrived at 6:15 AM, waited nearly 20 minutes and was number 166. Lines were just as long when I left as when I arrived!

Last Election, the precinct went BUSH 63.7% to GORE 33.7%. Zogby's lost his mind if he thinks Va is a tie.
My brother was out to vote by 6AM, and there was a line of about 250 waiting to vote this morning. My husband got up there about 8:30 and got home about 9:30. I didn't get there until 10:15, and had an 11:00 conflict, looked at the line, and went right out again. When I returned in the middle afternoon, the line was still wrapped twice and although I'm not good at estimating numbers, having worked as an election official in the past, I'd say turn out was extremely heavy in this very, very liberal, democratic district. Reston. My neighborhood has always pretty much been very liberal. My own little cul-de-sac is not, but the rest of the neighborhood is. I was surprised at how many people were there to vote in the middle of the day. Many Kerry workers outside, and only one Republican with sample ballots. They wouldn't have much influence in my neighborhood anyway. I am hoping the rest of the state cancels out the vote in this neighborhood. Praying, indeed, and I hope you all join me in that! There was no intimidation, no harrassment, no nothing....just voting as usual. That's a good sign. Regards, vharlow
I used the blue Democrat sample voting ballot as my guide. Everything they wanted, I voted the opposite. The Republican guides were yellow. Seemed like more blue than yellow in the lines, in Northern VA. On the other hand... were some of them using my plan for the blue sample?
There was NO ONE and I mean it......zip, zilch, nada, nyet......handing out sample ballots at my polling place when I went shortly after 12noon.
At a polling location with only +/- 500 voters I was #373 shortly after noon.
Took me a while to vote because they couldn't find my name on the list. A phone call to the County election office and another search through the list found me, there was a typo in my name. 2 of the poll workers were upset about the situation because they said they knew I had voted there before. And had hubby down as already having been there.
It was a little bit of a hassle, and held up the folks that came in behind me, but I am very happy they were so interested in making sure I was eligible to vote.
I offered my county GOP my time today for everything from manning phones (which I hate) to taking folks to the polls and everything in between. NOTHING.
I guess the GOP is comfortable in Accomack county.
My precinct is in Churchland (middle School is where I vote), the line was close to 2 hours long!
