No matter where you are from, the oldest state society in Washington, DC (which apologizes for going blue by mistake) cordially invites you to one of the oldest Inaugural celebrations since President Lincoln in 1861. If you are from Illinois, Wisconsin, Iowa, Missouri or Indiana or anywhere, you may come to the Illinois Inaugural Gala at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Washington, DC on Wednesday night, January 19, 2005.

If you have never been to an Inauguration, don't worry about an official invitation, you are invited by many of the state societies of Washington, DC. Texas, and about 20 other states will have great state events that you may attend just by purchasing a ticket and coming to Washington. If you are from the midwest, visit the Illinois State Society web site at the URL above. Other states may find a link to your state society at http://www.StateSocieties.org.

The state societies are nonpartisan and nonprofit booster clubs for the states in Washington, DC. But you will all be among friends from your state and you can party like Republican animals and Bush backers. These events will also be listed by the official Bush-Cheney Inaugural Committee schedule. In 2001, President and Mrs. Bush came to the Texas State Society Black Tie and Boots Ball, Vice President Cheney was honored by the Wyoming State Society, and House Speaker Dennis Hastert will be honored by the Illinois State Society. Come celebrate the victory, come to a great party with folks from your state, watch the parade, and gate crash anything you can! Party on!

Is Zell Miller going to be at one of the parties?

I'll be in Baltimore visiting my parents during Inauguration Week and plan to take the metro into DeeCee to stand in the crowd watching the President be sworn in. Well assuming it's not snowing. And I can find someone to go in with me.

Would enjoy meeting up with some Georgia Freepers or Maryland Freepers or any Freepers.

We will have House Speaker Dennis Hastert at the Illinois party. I don't know about Zell Miller but he might be invited by the Georgia State Society if they do an event. Anyone can watch the parade along Pennsylvania Avenue and you don't need a ticket. But tickets can be purchased for grand stand seats in some blocks. Contact your congressman right away--does not matter which party--since they are the ones who have tickets to the area on the west lawn of the Capitol for the swearing in. Get on their waiting list. If you want details on the Illinois party, see www.IllinoisStateSociety.org and click on 2005 Inaugural Gala. Good luck.
