It is with profound relief and gratitude to all the volunteers, voters, the Swift Vets for Truth, campaign staff, etc., that I type up today's edition of A Day in the Life of the Re-elected President Bush.
As we now know, Bush received more votes than any previous US president, America saw a record voter turnout, and the US Congress picked up votes to increase the GOP margin in both Houses. Mandate? YES!
Stocks surged Wednesday, with the Dow Jones industrials posting a triple-digit gain moments after the opening bell, as investors expressed relief following the election and victory for President Bush.
Some international reaction: Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi and Russian President Vladimir Putin on Wednesday said an election victory by President Bush would strengthen the United States and benefit their countries.

Trader Jeffery M. Silver works the S&P 500 Futures pit at the Chicago Mercantile Exchange Wednesday, Nov. 3, 2004, as stocks surged into triple-digit gains early in the day after the general election, a reaction to a presumed victory by President Bush.
Did anyone see the dour Katie Couric today, all dressed in black? She looked a mourner if ever there was one and she made no effort to disguise her frown.
How about Barney? I laughed out loud when they were trying to get him to behave when they went into the residence of the WH. It was classic. "Barney!"
I've seen her! Her name is Ophelia, and she's real cute, sort of speckled looking, if I remember correctly!
Thank you Tonk for everything you have done for our Vets and their families. We all appreciate it so much. We are happy to have dubya in for 4 more years.
When President Bush first came on the stage today, he seemed almost in shock because he was so subdued. Perhaps he was remembering he was robbed of a similar moment in 2000.
But then he started to speak and it was a superb speech and he seemed more like himself.
What a great victory!!!!
Yeah, its pretty much understood that W won, but they haven't "called" it yet. I hope it is all nice and official very soon. (not that we need it to win but I got into a "discussion" with a liberal, i.e. she shrieked at me last night and was told that my vote didn't matter, and well lets just say I really want to gloat).
Uraguayan morning newspapers announce that US President Bush is set to claim victory in the U.S. presidential race, in Montevideo, Uruguay, Wednesday
White House Chief of Staff Andy Card declares victory in the re-election of U.S. President George W. Bush at an election night rally at the Reagan Office Building in Washington, DC
Excellent. It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood!
Barney is so cool. Did you happen to catch the loving "hello" the President gave Barney when the first family returned to the WH yesterday? He adores that little dog.
Hi, Paul! What a Glorious Day!
Supporters of President Bush sleep and rest on the floor as they wait and hope for an appearance by the president in the early morning hours of Wednesday, Nov. 3, 2004, at the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center in Washington
Awwwww, that's such a nice picture of them. The whole time I was watching his speech, I kept thinking "go home and get some sleep". Can you imagine how exhausted he must be?
Amen!
Don't forget Laura has a birthday tomorrow. I already sent a Greeting to the white house for her.
Wil McClung, a student from Colorado Springs, Colorado, watches live TV coverage at an election party hosted by the U.S. Embassy in Beijing Wednesday, Nov. 3, 2004. Chinese and Americans were invited to watch election results on live TV.
I am one of those weird people who notice such nuances. I noticed this particular hand wave thing a long time ago. I just think she is a wonderful woman and a true southern bell. This could be a debutant wave or something. Don't know that much about her when she was young.
I also noticed the Jeanna thing with the unique hand clapping. I could go on, but you would never pay attention to another presidental speech again, just the little quirks they all have. I am cursed I think.
Oh thank you and praises, Lord! Thanks Gretchen for putting up this very special thread! Our country will be lead by a man who loves God! In addition, my boss (and his co-team) won so I'm still employed - sweet! :)
THANKS, GEM.
All: Now that we've taken care of the really important things, LOL, what color dress do you think Laura will wear to the Inauguration Ball? (Four years ago, she wore red.)
Somehow, thinking of that Ball just puts the icing on the cake for me. IT'S REAL, IT'S REAL. DUBYA HAS ANOTHER FOUR YEARS. Thank you, God.
That's a really pretty animated W, Lady Jag.
