The county-by-county election map -- my glorious vanity rant
self | 11-3-04

Posted on 11/4/2004, 12:02:20 AM by STARWISE

Now that I've left Florida due to the terrifying stress of the hurricanes, and am getting resettled in Chicago, I had to take a break and watch this election, chew my nails, pray and immerse myself in the event. Most of all, I'm SO very grateful ..THANK YOU, LORD!

The county-by-county 2004 Presidental Election Map

I just had to get this email out to media types and family and friends because the map is so compelling.

= = = = = =

This is a county by county map of the election. Don't believe the liberal rant that "this nation is divided" ... it's a myth they need to perpetuate. Just look at the sheer breadth of the area inhabited by Americans who saw there was a notable difference in the philosophies of Sen. Kerry and President Bush, gave President the largest popular vote ever received by any president, and

WHO

1) think it's obscene, outrageous and sickening that some people want the "right" to puncture the brain of a nearly full-term innocent baby to murder what is the miracle of God and life. (Notice how they won't say "the right to choose to kill a baby," .. they couch it in stealth-like fashion and just say "the freedom to choose," obscuring the horrific details of the event.)

2) desire to keep America sovereign, safe and free, and know that the only way to deal with the evil terrorists is to have a muscular defense organization and for our intelligence agencies and brave military to hunt them down and eliminate them, though it will be a long and sometimes painfully difficult ordeal;

3) believe that America's sovereignty and protection is America's business and not subject to the fickle whims, threats or posturing of the UN or ANY other country or entity;

4) don't believe God, faith, integrity, conservative, tradition, decency, duty, loyalty and patriotism are dirty words;

5) believe that it's not the government's money the Congress we choose to elect spends .. it's OURS; 6) know, though he has flaws as we all do, George W. Bush is a courageous and resolute leader who has the grace, faith and conviction to ignore the partisan slings, arrows and outright hateful derision in his relentless pursuit of the overwhelming challenge of our time: the preservation of our country and our very lives;

7) believe in the 2nd Amendment of the Constitution, and the right to responsibly own firearms if we choose to protect ourselves (take them away and only the criminals will have them);

8) want judges who DO NOT legislate from the bench, but who interpret the Constitution as our remarkably ingenious Founding Fathers deigned, and know how powerfully our rights and freedoms are tied to judges with judicial integrity and prudence;

9) accept there are other relationships people value, but believe in the preservation of the traditional family, and that marriage is inherently and intrinsically defined as the union between one man and one woman.

The liberal media and politicians would have you believe that the "RED" states are outside "mainstream" America. How can anyone who deals in reality possibly believe that? Don't buy the propaganda .. that the coarsening of our culture, breakdown of morals, elimination of personal responsibility, destruction of the traditional family, weakening of our military defenses, legislating from the bench, burdensome tax rates and outsourcing of our sovereignty to other bodies is OK and is what America wants .. it just ain't so. This election was decisive .. the REAL America has spoken.

In my opinion, this so-called "cultural war" is being perpetrated by a relatively small group of public and media figures, who've been able to attract a small fringe element of our society to their cause, but because they are either in the entertainment world, the media or are given voice by them, they are made visible on your tubes and are in your face. They exaggerate the issues, which typically espouse some kind of "if it feels good, do it" mentality or flaunting of social conventions, but because their mantras are constantly being heard, the unengaged mind can start to believe their wacky ideas have some merit … just from the reinforcing of constant repetition.

Listen to your common sense, and trust what you see: the vast Red Wing of America knows what kind of America they want, and the fringe elements of our society need to finally understand that the Red States ARE mainstream America.

We need to keep celebrity and media opinions in perspective...they're no better or wiser than we are. They're just very visible, and arrogant enough to believe their opinions can influence us. Now if Alec Baldwin, Sean Penn, Hope Lange, Cher, Susan Sarandon, Al Franken, Andy Rooney, Bill Mahr, Tim Robbins, Ashton Kutcher, Barbra Streisand, Michael Moore, the Dixie Chicks, Sheryl Crow and their ilk could grasp the true meaning of this map and really flee America because of this victory .. we could get back to what we were doing before they so rudely interrupted, but they'll probably aggravate us by staying in the most blessed and wonderful country in the world and keep whining.

God Bless George W. Bush, our brave military fighting and dying for our freedom today, all the soliders in all wars who have sacrificed for our country, and God Bless You, America, for showing your TRUE COLORS!

In Chicago .. I've been "Barracked" to death .. jeez .. can these local stations talk about anything else? Being without cable, I would've gone crazy if not for FreeRepublic .. the coverage on the local stations was saturated with Barrack and Bean segments .. over and over and over again .. to a sickening degree. You can tell the unions and the Daley machine have quite a hold on this state ... a revelation to someone used to a simple way of life in the country.

You left Florida for Chicago?

I hope you like bitterly cold weather, 4:30PM sunsets, and the "beaches" of Lake Michigan!

What is so funny, they think that we are going to be upset.

Their map is perfect for the urban cleansing of the lunatics who should be in Canada.

Yeah .. I know .. there probably won't be another hurricane in Florida for 39 years now that I've left after 36 years, but I was truly in such a stressed out, desperate state .. had to go on meds. I was a basket case.... I had already lost it all in Andrew in '92. My consolation: Chicago doesn't have hurricanes, I've got lots of polarfleece, I'm looking for a telecommuting job, and heat is included in my rent ;-)

Did anyone else notice that Republicans are now red and democrats now blue in the media. It used to be that the incumbent was blue and the challenger was red. I think the influence of the 2000 version of this map has now permanently reassigned the colors in the public's mind.
