Here's how we did it, FReepers:

That truly is an amazing number of volunteers. Congrats to all of you....and the U.S. of A!
go FReepers!!!!!
Looks like the Bearcats in Cincy/Hamilton County came through for Bush. Go Cincy!!!
Nice job out there Tony. :-}
Thank You Ohio!
We in Wisconsin tried hard, but vote fraud in Milwaukee and Madison by Democrats trumped our honest sweat in the trenches.
We need to take back Franklin County!
i know there is a thankyouswiftees.com site, but how about a THANKYOUOHIOGOPVOLUNTEERS.com???
The interesting thing is that even if you take away the rural counties, which Bush won overwhelmingly, the race was still very close. The urban centers were balanced out by their suburban counterparts, to within 50,000 votes.
A hug to my Cincy son!!!
It is amazing that a city the size of Cincy voted Republican. Incredible.
Is Clark Co. that one between Dayton and Columbus?
I hope this really sticks in their craw over at the Guardian...
I hate that my county (Summit) is always deep blue...
What I don't get is why Portage county always votes Democrat. It's either suburbs or farms. There is the city of Kent and KSU in Portage Co. which might be part of it, though.
Seems that Hamilton County is one of the most conservative urban counties in the Midwest.
Looks to me like a map of the U.S. in microcosm!
Got a few big hives with concentrated Dimocratic votes, and the broad geographic majority that emphasizes sanity, hard work, and self-reliance - all antithetical to the Dimocratic Party!
Also impressive is suburb vote % greater than rural vote %. The MSM is touting that it is the RURAL areas that won this for GWB.
Yes, it is the county contiguous with the Northeast corner of Montgomery Co. (Dayton). A sizable majority of the Clark County vote went to Bush this time. I say, eat that, Guardian...
Excellent! anybody got the stats for Iowa?
Kent state is the biggest problem. Too many liberals to offset.
Please point out for me these counties. I'm thrilled and touched by the Amish's rare active participation in this election, for the first time since they voted for Eisenhower (so I've heard).
You are great Americans. You helped save the country on Tuesday. We are in your debt Ohio !
You can thank Gavin Newsom and the Massachusets Supreme Court as well.
Evangelicals across the bottom of the state turned out...Having the Gay marriage ban on the ballot was a key factor.
Great job Stark County workers--we did darn good against the nasty tide we were up against.
You guys came such a long way....little by little you are chipping away at their impact.
I'm gonna go back to my hometown of Cincy and have me some Skyline Chili, Grater's icecream, catch a Bengal's game this weekend, and thank all the good people of Hamilton County for re-electing our President Bush to 4 MORE YEARS.
Just like that dot of blue in SE Ohio, home of OU.
And Columbus and Dayton.
And let us not forget Toledo.
You can also see the effect of urban sprawl and so-called white flight in Medina County, which though reliably Republican went bigger for Bush this time around. I moved here in 2000, but vote in Cuyahoga County that year. In my neighborhood the KE signs were everywhere (due to high employment of union workers), but as you traveled south towards Medina and Wadsworth, much more BC signs. This also is reflected in Geauga County, just east of Cuyahoga.
Canton is in Stark county, in NE Ohio (it's marked on the map above). Surprisingly, it went Kerry, but went Bush last time. The Canton and Massillon city votes probably overwhelmed the suburban and rural areas. Wayne county is directly west. Holmes county is directly south of Wayne county.
btw, I wonder what time yesterday sKerry tossed that 'irritating' Buckeye that was "always in his pocket"? (ha-ha-ha)
And I bet the Butler was told to immediately burn the Barn Coat too!
The unions in Canton were the culprit. Doesn't Stark county usually go Republican?
I grew up in Cincy. Very heavy Catholic population. Lots of churches. More kids attend private Catholic schools than public schools, I believe. There are no strip bars in Cincy. You can't buy porno in Cincy. Very conservative town.
You Dems better smarten-up. You're pissin' off Ohioans! Can't even win Ohio with all those union workers and all your cheatin'.
Stark is a swing county. The huge manufacturing job losses hit hard there, so no surprise. I'd be a lot more inclined to blame Taft over Bush. I lost my job as a research scientist for a company in Lake county, but I don't blame anybody except the company that let me go.
Butler County (home of Miami University) - solid red!
Athens County (home of Ohio U) - the only blue state in S/SW Ohio.
Friends don't let friends go to OU!
So while trapped in a blue area, I still responded to the GOTV effort here because I know it's a statewide election and winner take all for the EVs. It's a little discouraging to have to deal with local 'Rat officials, but, for now, they're stuck with relatively innocuous things (keeping trash collection going, fixing streets, etc.). At least they're not running the WOT or picking federal judges.
Canton and Massillon were once BIG steel towns, and you know THAT story lately. N. Canton, also in Stark Co. is home of the Hoover Co. and there were recent, very recent, layoffs there. Diebold Co. is also in Canton, a mfg. concern as well. Lots of lame old strong labor ties here even though labor unions have systematically driven the jobs away with their over the top and unreasonable demands on the companies. You never met such a bunch of rabid, ill informed and blindly Roosevelt type Democrats in your life.
I used to live in Dublin, which was reliably Republican. Even Ohio State in the mid-80's was balanced and Columbus had a popular Republican Mayor. Also lived in Bexley and then Fairfield Cty (Pickerington), which is Pubbie territory.
My dad lives in Lake Township and his neighborhood was all B/C signs, but I did notice down into North Canton and Canton it was more Kerry this year than it was Gore in 2000.
Used to live in UA - it seems the perfect example of Bush country. Too many self-enlightened OSU types there now?
As a former resident of Clark County (Wright-Patterson AFB), can I thank the Brits? This is great news to all the Republicans in the western/southern part of the County that had to put up with Springfield tipping the balance.

Square miles of counties won:
Bush 3.28 million
Kerry 741,000
NOTE; This is NOT the final map. Gray area results are not yet included and Alaska is blank.
I have a hard time believing that the map's legend matches with the map. More than 20% gain in Democrat support since 2000 in Montgomery County (Dayton)? Kerry only won the county by 3500 votes (51%-49%). The county party head was bragging about cutting that down from 2000. I'm trying to track down the 2000 results.
Dayton is as much a blight on the State of Ohio as Cleveland IMHO. Surrounding areas of Dayton are Republican but you will never change that city. Blacks on the west and the union workers on the east part of the city. I had a hard time coming up with a name for the east side having lived in Beavercreek -- didn't want to say the name that was normally used -- PC here for today.
If you add up the margins in Hamilton, Butler, Warren and Clermont counties you will see that the total is greater than the margin of victory in the state. In other words, we Cincinnatians gave you George W. Bush as president. You are welcome.
