F-16 Fighter Fires At School In New Jersey

Incident Happened On Training Mission

LITTLE EGG HARBOR, N.J. -- A National Guard F-16 fighter jet on a nighttime training mission Wednesday fired 25 rounds of ammunition that tore through an intermediate school. No one was injured.

The military is investigating the incident that damaged Little Egg Harbor Intermediate School shortly after 11 p.m. Police were called to the area when a custodian heard what sounded like someone running across the roof of the school. The custodian was the only person in the school at the time.

Police Chief Mark Siino on Thursday said police officers noticed punctures in the roof. Ceiling tiles had fallen into classrooms and there were scratch marks in the asphalt outside the building. The 2-inch long bullets are made of lead and do not explode, said Col. Brian Webster, commander of the 177th Fighter Wing of the New Jersey Air National Guard.
It was unclear why the shots were fired, Webster said.

I'm going to try to make it to the Freeper Inaugral ball. Maybe we could introduce Freepers to a few rounds of Sammy Small.

Had a guard unit from AZ show up at Fort Knox when I used to live nearby for some artillery training.

They must have slept through the classrom instruction cause when the lit up the big guns some guy wound up with a crater in his backyard. He was upset as it interrupted his TV watchin as I recall.

They were shipped out before that barrel had a chance to cool down.

When you live near ranges this stuff does happen from time to time.

Actually, some of the bravest men I've ever seen in combat are in the infantry. They are definitely giants among men. And I always find it an honor to buy them a drink or two too.

I didn't have anything to do with the school strafing.
But I bet that pilot is getting his eyes checked, and then getting his career cut short.

Feeling is mutual. If we ever get together, the first round is on this grunt.

All subsequent rounds, however, are on you Hollywood fighter jockey types. :)

Remember - fighter jocks make movies, infantrymen make history.

Ha! My favorite movie(s) is The Band of Brothers series. Heroes in every sense of the word. And those same guys are fighting in Iraq right now. The only thing that's changed is the equipment and location. The men are just as strong.

And I'll take your drink offer.

Electronic fire and the rate of fire seems to me it's some sort of malfunction or cook off.

I not sure at the rate these things fire that it would be physically possible to just fire 25 rounds.

While it's a good chance it's not pilot error it's still damn serious. They'll deal with it which ever the case.

I am telling you that there is MORE to this story, folks.

How's this:

This is to get our attention. After the forged TANG memos we are all pretty well acquainted with the Air Guard - NJANG flies air cover for NYC and the corridor to DC based in Atlantic City.

A not too subtle message to FR that we are needed to keep the MSM in line to fight the WOT. Their pro-terrorist propaganda has to stop for us to win.

"best way to barbeque" azimuth thread...

There's an F-16 pilot in New Jersey that can tell you the best way to get your "azimuth barbequed".
