But the new Palestinian leader/thieves will take it for themselves - if they can find it - and tell the Pali people that the Israelis stole it. And the Pali proles will pretend to believe that because it's easier than facing the truth.
If this story is accurate, it's grotesquely funny to think of those frantic terrorists running around looking for the Swiss bank numbers. They knew he looted the Palies for 2 or 3 billion bucks, but that was okay. Just where the hell did the brain-dead old bugger hide the bank account numbers?!
You can remove the heart from a cow and pace it even after it's stopped quivering (paced, low-energy currents, versus the energy used in defibrillating a heart), and it will beat some. It's just flesh. All Arafat is is flesh now too. He's gone.
My guess is that Arafat went into cardiac arrest. Someone leaked it to the press (he was as good as dead, because CPR has a 10% survival rate and his body wasn't in good shape). They brought him back. But this isn't part of the 10%, because sometimes you bring back vegetables and they die a few days later anyway. This corresponds to the order of the news stories: that he died, that he's not dead yet, and that he is now brain dead.
CPR is a disgusting, brutal, and desperate act. Imagine Arafat.... Chest compressions have broken and then pulverized numerous ribs, leaving a cavity in his chest, just left of the center. Maybe they already had an endotracheal tube in place if they had put him under for their procedures/tests. If not, however, ventilations typically put some air in the stomach too until that ET tube is in place. His stomach puffed up. Then it gave way, bringing up vomit. The air that's in his stomach is making the brown mass foam out of his mouth with each compression. Maybe they had him fast for these procedures, so its really liquidy. Maybe it pooled in his eyes, or some sprayed out during ventilations with the bag-valve-mask. Then they suction his mouth out and tube him.
Alright, that's enough Schadenfreude for one night<G>. They brought Arafat back as a vegetable, or maybe he was just plain gorked and someone misread it and called the press. Now, maybe his body has enough oomph left that the life support is able to support everything. I don't really think so, though. One of the drugs used in CPR is epinephrine, which stimulates the heart but also constricts the blood vessels. This raises the blood pressure when you compress, which helps make sure blood reaches the all-important brain. But it does all this through the sympathetic nervous system. It's the same as adrenaline, i.e., the fight-or-flight response. The blood vessels it primarily constricts are those you don't need in a desperate situation - your skin, your digestive system, and your kidneys. Epinephrine is a good drug, but in this form it's only used for desperate measures. It's probably worn off by now anyway, so I don't know what kind of long-term effect it really has.
There are plenty of people who have been brought back from clinical death (the heart stopping - biological death is when the neurons die a few minutes later), and some of them return to normal life. Arafat isn't a prime candidate. He's on life support, but he's probably on his way to organ failure. His liver and kidneys won't be removing metabolic wastes from his system. Then they'll build up in his heart and whatever is left of his brain, and that will be the end.
Arafat's corpse is responding to external mechanical, electrical, and chemical impulses. He's dead, but he doesn't know it yet. Now, I have no idea, but what's the point of that body now? His soul may already be in Hell.

I hope that either the USA can seize this money and add it to the War On Terror (Arafat IS after all the godfather of modern terrorism), or the money is lost forever and thereby denying these terrorists funding.
Look at the upside, while the Palestinians do not yet have a state, they now have a state vegetable.
