The longer they stay asleep at the wheel the better it is for us.

Even Stewart couldn't swallow that and said, "Isn't that what this election showed you? That we're actually the media elite they keep talking about?"

No, Jon. You're simply The Media.

There's nothing even remotely "elite" about you, whatsoever. :)

Their message doesn't sell. Kerry had no message of his own. They are consumed with an agenda of gay marriage, militant environmentalism and socialized health care. But America isn't.

.

Maybe this is a large reason Bush won by a landslide yet the country to a strong degree believes the nation is on the "wrong track"?

They said the same thing in 1988, that they the pure stewards of the nation's fortunes were outflanked by the evil genius Lee Atwater.

Stewart figured it out pretty quick.
He sees a chance to boost his ratings.
Let's see if he goes there this next year.

Shumer is in New York. What can you say?

Yes, the wrong track was the no G-d in the pledge, the gay marriage, the attacks on the Boy Scouts, the sodomy ruling, etc.

That was the wrong track, but nobody asked it to be clarified on what exactly the wrong track was. They just assumed it was whatever Kerry said because he used the phrase.

Interesting, no?

I couldn't resist emailing Jon Stewart recently:

"Hi Jon Stewart,

I have something important to tell you.

It's simple:

You forgot to be a monkey for a while.

A monkey should be funny;
he shouldn't try to talk about hard things like politics.

Now be a monkey, mm-kay?

Bye bye."

Chuck Schumer just said, "I think we're (meaning the Dems) much closer to the way people feel about the important issues, but we just got out-foxed again"

UpChuck Schumer is such a clymer!

The fact that they can see the forest for the trees is good news for America. Their message doesn't sell. Kerry had no message of his own. They are consumed with an agenda of gay marriage, militant environmentalism and socialized health care. But America isn't.

I agree completely. All Kerry ever said on any issue was "i have a plan".
NOT GOOD ENOUGH.

Let those like Shumer and Pelosi keep thinking like they do. It will only be a matter of time before the repubs have 66 seats in the senate.

No, Jon. You're simply The Media. There's nothing even remotely "elite" about you, whatsoever.

As Laura Ingraham says so eloquently in her book "Shut Up and Sing", what makes these people the "media elite" (or "Hollywood elite", "academic elite", etc.) is not that they *are* elite, it's that they *think* they're the elite, the brightest, the best, etc.

In short, "media elite" is shorthand for "the self-appointed media elite".
