FREEP George Carlin, Syracuse, NY 12/11/04
PABAAH ^

Posted on 11/05/2004 3:00:26 AM PST by Jon Alvarez

Patriots:

Anti-American comedian George Carlin is coming to Syracuse on Dec. 11th for a concert at the Landmark Theatre. Guess who's going to be there to greet him?

Join me in letting George Carlin and his fans know that we take exception to his claim that 3000 Americans somehow deserved what they got on Sept. 11th. Spread the word, bring a friend, bring a sign.

I wonder how many concert-goers are aware of his beliefs relative to the War on Terror and 9/11? Those plunking $40 to support this vile person and his affluent lifestyle might re-think that purchase if they were truly aware of his views. The internet chain letter you've probably received at some point, wrongly attributed to both Carlin and Robin Williams, proudly declaring how great the USA is, has been strongly denounced by Carlin as an internet hoax (while most Americans forwarding it to others are saying "heck yeah, I agree 110%!)... No surprise there, as this self-loathing, hate-America celeb seems to think America is the bad guy in all of this and is apparently not ashamed to say so. That's certainly his right.

However, many of us feel that George Carlin may need to find a new line of work. He's exposed himself and his true feelings and we ain't buying no more of what he and his fellow anti-American celebs are shoveling.

Hey George, you're FIRED! Maybe France will enjoy your brand of humor and insights...

Carlin: U.S. "Paying the Piper" for "Exploiting" the World

The U.S. has earned the disgust of the world which has fueled terrorist attacks, comedian/actor George Carlin argued Friday night on HBO's Real Time with Bill Maher in implicitly suggesting that we deserved the 9/11 attacks.

Carlin contended: "This country has been pushing the world around and exploiting people of the world for a long, long time. And sometime you have to pay the piper."

And that's what happened to us. We now have gotten enough people really angry and we have sold enough weapons and we've developed enough technology for them to have them now and they're being used against us. And whether we went here for this reason or not, this country, the owners of this country do what they want, period, they do what they want. This is what they wanted, this is what they did. And then they dance around -- they'll give you a little of this and a little of that to make it palatable, to keep the general uninformed population at bay because that's the way they've kept it. They've kept people uninformed, and no critical thinking."

How about this little bit of insight into the mind of George Carlin:

"And I certainly would never wish a president any sort of harm …out loud. It’s not in my heart to do such a thing –to any human being. I wish all people only the best at all times …out loud. Especially the president. Because even though I disagree with his policies, and think he is a dangerous imbecile, he is, after all, the President of all of us, and he is a fellow human being, deserving of respect. (That was hard to say, but I wanted to keep the record straight.) " Source: http://www.georgecarlin.com/georgecarlin/home/germs.html

And from an interview (sounds like Osama bin Laden would agree with him):

Q: You're known as a very liberal comic. Are you trying to change people's political views when you go out there? Do you have an underlying agenda?

A: No. First of all, I'm not liberal. I'm just about (being) anti-United States. I don't like the way this country operates. I think we've ruined this place. And I think it's largely because of businessmen. And businessmen are not liberals. So if that makes me a liberal, then that's just an association. It's not a choice. ...

I do not care about changing anybody. Nobody. I go out there to show the rest of the Americans how badly they're doing. This country has been, for about 180 years now, badly mishandled. And it's been in the wrong hands. It's been in the hands of the business interests.

And a lot of the beauty of this country has been shattered by them. The physical beauty and the kind of institutional beauty that was originally built into this place - this experiment, this magnificent experiment in democracy is just being shredded to pieces by these right-wing Christians, the Ashcroft branch of Republicanism. (They're) just shredding the rest of the Bill of Rights which hadn't been shredded already. (But) they'd been doing a pretty good job on it up until then, anyway. And what kind of message is he sending with this book cover of his:

Hrm. Quite the change--I remember that he had an HBO live special scheduled just a few days after September 11. He came out and basically said Tom Ridge should take a hike and be replaced with Giuliani, "an Italian from Brooklyn," and that we should smoke out Afghanistan's caves. Even wore an "I <3 NY" t-shirt under his normal stuff.

But I'm still not surprised at this.

The son of a bitch hates this country but he loves its' money. Seems to me, he should go to France or Germany and charge them for listening to him spew his vermon about the greatest country on this Earth.

That's too bad. I used to think he was quite funny.

Oh well, to hell with George Carlin.

Well, George, Castro need bodies to cut sugar cane and roll cigars....besides, I hear they have GREAT health care for eveyone (but, I'd guess, only if your name's Fidel Castro)

Hmmm. That just happens to be one of my scheduled days off. I'll be in touch. BTW, great job of supporting GWB Jon. Glad our efforts weren't in vain even though he did lose NY. C-ya.

I'd love for somebody in the front row to stand up and yell to Carlin, "All my life I've wanted to say one of the '7 dirty words.' Can I saw one right now?" Then that person yells out to Carlin to go f*** himself.

Carlin has made no bones about what he thinks and feels about most things including politics. Especially if you read his books. He's a political comedian. I think anyone going to see him already knows this.

Not at all. Just commenting on the fact that it's hardly a matter worthy of surprise.
