Need I remind some that Arlen Specter lead the fight to have Justice Thomas confirmed to the bench. That's his job, and he doesn't do it very often. Too often he's pushing the democratic ideology.

I know he is the same guy: it was just a figure of speech. I can't believe that right after Bush's victory, Specter made that statement about fighting Bush on judges. Couldn't Specter figure out that it could disqualify him from chairing the committee? Perhaps he was under local pressure to make that statement. I'm not defending him, just wondering why he was so politically reckless.

Good point.
However, the way I remember it, it hurt his chances for reelection in PA, and he became very apologetic. But it might have helped him in the primaries.

"He also was not very helpful during Clinton's impeachment proceedings." Only because he thought he was in Scotland for some reason. ;-)

I'm sure Senator John Danforth would be surprised to know that.

Be advised, that just because President Bush won reelection, and my State, finally threw out the great deceiver, and filibusterarator tommy two tongues Daschle, who one day after his defeat, had front page headlines in the Rapid City Journal, stating he would "continue to work for South Dakota", a particularly disgusting continuation of the deception perpetrated on the people of SD and the United States of America.
Mr Daschle is still in office, and will be able to wield his big stick for just a while longer. Beware of giving this person any ideas. The more I think about it, the more I like My President's way of doing things. Make everyone think you are stupid. Followed up with a handshake, a friendly smile, and brilliant action. With that little bit of humility, he is more than able to keep his opponents guessing.

Absolutely wrong approach to bombard Specter with calls. He wants the attention.
The approach is to simply remove him quietly without even consulting him.
He is simply now no longer relevant.
